I can see why those would be deal breakers. I too use my MJ3 as a preamp for my two Gjallarhorns to power harder to drive headphones as well as a pair of Klipsch RP600m speakers.- MindBreak

I hope you enjoy your new Gungnir! That is the DAC I originally wanted, but I was unable to purchase it while it was still in production. Hence my Bifrost 2/64 purchase (got it at a slight discount under B-stock). I am not a 2nd hand market enthusiast otherwise I would have snagged one...- MindBreak

Plenty of breathing room now, and stays on 24/7. My new interconnects arrive later today as well. 😁- MindBreak

I am still hopeful that Jason will figure out a power solution for the Valhalla 3 though. It would be interesting to see how that turns out, and at what price point it starts at. Depending on price, I might order one along with a Yggdrasil next year. I just feel the need to have a bigger pile...- MindBreak

The Aegis looks good, and we are all forever falling deeper down that rabbit hole! I am interested in it as well, but I am leaning towards upgrading my DAC next year vs buying a Tube amp. Also, the Aegis' weight might require me to buy a equipment rack to put beside my desk.- MindBreak

I will let you know my impressions of them once I have them in hand and spend a few hours listening with them. As far as the Caldera, i doubt I will be purchasing one in the near future. Maybe down the line though . I would most likely pick up a Yggdrasil before a Caldera purchase...- MindBreak

Getting over my fear of leaving my Mjolnir 3 on (been on for 24 hours thus far). I have some risers arriving today to give it some more breathing room which will make feel a little more comfortable leaving it on for the long haul. On a separate note, I also ordered new interconnects from...- MindBreak

planar driver clinking
Yes, that can happen depending on the tolerances they allow for machining the components. I don't own that headphone, but that can happen with any manufacturer.- MindBreak

Are you referring to the cup hitting the yoke? Like the mechanism clicking?- MindBreak

Headphone recommendations under $300, preferably planar magnetics. Or if possible, ways to give an oomph to my HD600 sub-bass!
Planar headphones can do bass well, but it is amp dependent, so your mileage may vary. I have owned both Sundara and Arya V3 from Hifiman with no issues. They have gotten way better at quality control since a few years ago. There are threads on this site dedicated to headphones that reproduce...- MindBreak

planar driver clinking
I have several planar headphones, and that is definitely not normal. Does it make that sound consistently, or only during certain parts of the music you are listening to? I have a pair of fostex headphones that one cup rattles when playing back some sub bass frequencies (known issue with some...- MindBreak
