Schiit Jotunheim w. Internal Multibit Dac vs. External Modi Multibit

Hey all, So, I bought my Modi Multibit before I bought my Jotunheim for use with a tube amp. In the end I didn't like the tube experience so I ordered the Jotunheim without a DAC module to use together with it. At the time I bough the Jotunheim, it only had a the standard DAC, and I kind of...

Headphones vs Speakers -- an Inconvenient Truth

Not to mention that modern speakers are designed with mathematical modeling tools to capture the wavelengths inside the enclosures properly.   The old designs were a combination guesswork and "dark arts".  Modern good speakers use complex wave calculations and optimizations and are much more...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Well I will say this. While I haven't bought a print newspaper or magazine since the 90's I still do prefer my novels in paper form. None of this Kindle stuff works for me. That being said, I rarely have time for reading recreational fiction anymore. :(

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Sorry, my bad. I'm not familiar with this Harley guy I just assumed he ran an independent website. I haven't read a print magazine since the mid 90's. I sometimes forget they still exist. Who even buys anything in print anymore? That's like stone age stuff.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

The sad part is that in the age of ad blockers it is VERY difficult to make money on small independent sites. This is forcing many reviewers to make morally.compromisong decisions in order to keep eating. This is the sad part.

Headphones vs Speakers -- an Inconvenient Truth

I agree with this statement. In fact, my RBH 41-SE's while rated 60hz - 20khz have a very healthy bass. I suspect the lower spec of 60hz is very conservative. When I first hooked them up, I forgot to connect the sub and at first I didn't even notice it wasn't hooked up. In test tones 35hz...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

My proclivity for multiple and large screens started at work, but once I got used to there my computer at home felt so limiting, I had to do something about it.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Large high resolution screens are invaluable when working with large spreadsheets, like FMEA's. Multiple screens are a huge productivity boost especially when doing tasks where you need to reference multiple documents at once. Alt tabbing to find the right document you need can take way more...

Headphones vs Speakers -- an Inconvenient Truth

Yep, it's a trade-off. Their PB models are ported. SB models are sealed. Ported models will produce a lot more bass at the same wattage compared to sealed models, but ported subs need bigger cabinets for the acoustics to work out right, so they will be larger. Some also say that they prefer the...

Headphones vs Speakers -- an Inconvenient Truth

I've been a headphones guy for a long time out of necessity.   The times when I've truly been able to blast music out into the air turned up to 11 have been rare, as I've lived in apartments with neighbors close by.   Out of necessity then, I've gotten into headphones.  My current primary...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Hmm.   I rarely ever use speakers.   In fact right now, my only set are a ****ty pair of Logitech desktop 2.1 speakers (z623.   They get pretty damned loud, but they sound like crap)   I was thinking about maybe changing all that though, with the theory that maybe I'll use speakers more...

Not familiar with those but I googled them, and yeah, pretty much.   I don';t know anyone who has larger speakers than about that size, and come to think of it, I don't think I've ever actually seen any in person, outside club-PA systems
