EAC is better than dBpoweramp if your CDs have errors, it has better error correction

Get a program like dBpoweramp to re-rip the CDs. It rips things quickly like iTunes or WMP, but the quality is assured due to it's checking the accurate rip database.

You can use something that can encode in free format to go up to 640K, but that doesn't work on, well, anything.
