I have similar observation with MEST1. Whereas I prefer MEST with every other player in my collection, A1M2 pairs extremely well with Monarch (also original, do not have Mk2). With monarch, sony beats even Hugo2 combos in my opinion.

Maybe some problem with your unit? My is uncapped, bought in Japan, however I would argue that the volume difference shouldn‘t be THAT significant.

I wonder what levels of noise comfort do you guys have. I usually run my iems (Monarchs, MEST, Andros, Roxannes) at around 40-55 tops (low gain), depending on the outside noise. More than that would become very uncomfortable very quickly for me.
