Magni 3 Impressions
I've had good luck with these 4 input switch boxes. Check around. You may be able to find them for a little less money. I think I recently bought one for $9, shipped. -MSW...- Mark Williams

Magni 3 Impressions
I checked with the company and apparently, the gain does affect both the headphones and also when the Magni 3 is used as a preamplifier with a power amp. Makes sense. Thanks, Mark- Mark Williams

Magni 3 Impressions
Ah, OK, very good to know. Thanks. Now, here's a question you might consider dumb. The gain. Does the gain work for both headphones and when using the thing as a regular preamp hooked to a power amp? Or, does the gain only affect the headphone section? Thanks, Mark- Mark Williams

Magni 3 Impressions
OK, back to the original post topic. I have a Magni (first one) and I'm very pleased with it. What, other than the gain has been done to the Magni 3? Any sonic improvements? Or, is it just the selectable gain feature that's new?- Mark Williams

The Takstar, Technical Pro, Gemini Greathon, CyberX, Qpad Thread
Claus! My Takstar HI-2050's arrived yesterday. I think I ordered them just after New Year's Day so 15-17 days for delivery. Not bad. I want to thank you for helping me be aware of these. I think they're fantastic headphones and the steal of the decade for $52 delivered! To...- Mark Williams

Hi Claus, I have not noticed a problem with my amp (crosstalk). Perhaps this was addressed by Bravo later on. I just got the amp last summer and was "wowed" at the difference between plugging headphones into this vs. straight into the CD player's jack. I've had stereos since...- Mark Williams

Thanks Claus-DK! I appreciate your taking the lead on these Takstar HI2050's. I would have not have even know of them otherwise. Looking forward to them. I've been messing around with inexpensive IEM's/earbuds lately but there's something just so right about a huge, comfortable...- Mark Williams

OK, I "drank the KoolAid" and bought a pair of Takstar Hi2050 from Aliexpress.com just now. $52 plus change delivered. Hope they are as good as an equally priced Sony, etc. They DO look nice and comfortable with those plush velour ear pads. With any luck, the sonics will be...- Mark Williams

Sony MDR-3 rewiring advice
I'm still searching for pads for mySony MDR3's. If anyone can help, please chime in. The pads I'm holding in the second photo were purchased from eBay and obviously not correct. I'm wondering if some other manufacturer used a similar pad and might be a match? -Mark- Mark Williams

Bose AE2
Much maligned.....yet I like my Bose AE2's. I have experienced no quality issues. That's just ridiculous. As for the "boomy" bass. Huh? I wouldn't say boomy. I'd say the bass is more prominent and enjoyable than a pair of AKG701's that I am borrowing, yet the overall soundstage of...- Mark Williams

Sony MDR-3 rewiring advice
Ha, ha......well these MDR-3's are like the cheapie shortwave radio I bought once......just makes you want a better one! I'd be open to headphone suggestions in the plus or minus $100 range. Right now, I have no brand preference. Just comfort. And that leaves out the ear bud...- Mark Williams

Sony MDR-3 rewiring advice
Hello everyone, Oh, I am sorry the fellow who was trying to help me got his post bumped. Yeah, I am just looking for replacement foam. It's not a question of me being too lazy or dumb to Google them. It's just a question of my not knowing or being ignorant of what exactly to...- Mark Williams
