Orthodynamic Roundup
Weird, mk2 have no resistor, and neither have SR-5 (whose drivers are identical in both appearance and FR to mk3, I measured my stash of NBs yesterday including an SR-5 to mk2 transplant).- ludoo

Also curious about the T50RPmk4, and given current preordes for the SR-X1 (which is for me *the* announcement of the year) will be shipped in July, I also plan on getting the Fostex as soon as it comes out.- ludoo

The Headphone Driver Pics Thread
Tried the search function and I don't think an SR-Xmk2 driver has been posted already. Here it is, taken today during the transplant of SR-5 drivers in the SR-X frame (SR-X drivers need recoating...). Note the wires connected via screws, the SR-5 uses tabs (pic at the end). driver rear front...- ludoo

Nothing new, but had two of my 3 favorite headphones out and took a picture: the SR-Xmk3 I bought from Japan, who have SR-5 white cable and sound different from all my other SR-X (they are mids cannons), who knows which driver they have inside; and the TDS-15 which for my tastes are the best out...- ludoo

Strain reliefs are also different. Black strain reliefs were shortened when I recabled but you can still see the difference The TDS-15 react very well to damping density changes. Their FR kind of reminds me of the Stax L500 (except for upper treble of course), here is the current lighter...- ludoo

Orthodynamic Roundup
Crappy group shot of the two TDS-15 I got from Micon: the gray ones arrived today and after a quick pad swap they are sounding as good as the black, with some minor differences probably due to the slightly different damping. The TDS-15 have grown on me, I really really like their sound...- ludoo

Absolutely agree, even though I have a soft spot for small supra orthos and find the TDS-15 very nice from a design, practicality PoV as they fold very small for easy carrying. I would never trade this for a larger enclosure, especially since the only thing you can buy now are circum, especially...- ludoo

Absolutely no problem, the more info the better. I just like them a lot despite the small soundstage. YMMV 😀- ludoo

Well, mines have great bass so either there's a huge variation, or they need small cups and flat pads...- ludoo

Comment by 'ludoo' on listing 'ISO headphone TDS-15'
Bought a pair from Micon (and TDS-16/16, TDS-16/40, TDS-7), smooth transaction and the phones sound fantastic! Measurements are in the ortho thread.- ludoo

Orthodynamic Roundup
FInally had some time to try the TDS-15 I received from @micon. I bought them again after having had a pair 10+ years ago as I did not do them justice at the time. Just replacing the terrible stock pads is enough to make them pretty good in comparison to all my other planars. Next is a recable...- ludoo

I tried bidding on the Y! JP pair last week, and dropped out fairly quickly as the price was going up. This is awesome and I'm really glad you got a pair and are sharing this!- ludoo

Orthodynamic Roundup
Here it is, it can probably be done better but this was a simple way to test it. I've seen it in some headphones done with felt integral to the pads (Audeze EL-8?) or even thick adhesive foam (Oppo PM-3). This is the effect on FR of just adding the mids lens (again, I use a flat plate so...- ludoo
