DUNU - Discussion/Impressions Master Thread
no wories it took awhile but the demo unit glacier finally stabilised. Personally I prefer a linear tilt over harmans upper bass/lower mids death. I personally found glacier pretty nice but how pushed back things like standing double bass and alto recorders along with the uneveness of harps...- llysender

FIIO K19, the flagship desktop DAC and headphone amplifier
It was run it canjam sg+ a week. Also it's not that it's bad but the signature is smooth and relaxing and ment for longer listening sessions. It's kind of the opposite colouration I want being fast, precise and bringing out micro texture. That being said I haven't tried playing around with the...- llysender

FIIO K19, the flagship desktop DAC and headphone amplifier
Got the chance to listen to the K19 today. Its nice but I dont think it will replace my K9 pro AKM. What I really like about it is that sudo tube esque smoothness and laid back sound but at the expense of precision slam and texture is a deal breaker for me. it's a pitty since its much thinner as...- llysender

FiiO K9 Pro Hi-Fi DeskDop DAC&Bluetooth&Amplifier,XLR/RCA/4.4/Optical/Coaxial interface
hmmmm I didnt know that there was a serenade vs K9 pro going on. The main thing with the serenade is that it has a wetter more distorted bass with a nice warmish with a moderate lower treble boost making it alot more "fun" sounding. Also unlike the K9 pro(granted I only A/Bed with the AKM...- llysender

Elysian Pilgrim
oh most certernly, but then you need to like gaea style tuning since it isnt a 1 for 1 with IE600 and some people say that gaea has too much treble.- llysender

I wondering if the regular pilgrim can be "modifiend" via EQ to have a more cohesive low to mids transition. but yes the treble is really impressive. Got to go back to zapplin and co to try. But yeah even if on FR the noir has more treble to my ears the balance is a clear downward slope. Looking...- llysender

hmmm shouldnt it be the other way round? At the very lest I found the noir to be lacking in lower treble. But of the 2 evils I would rather take the noir over the regular pilgrim that has treble extension but has a nice hole in the upper bass/lower mids.- llysender

634EARS: Impressions, Discussions, and Appreciations Thread
The front for both is titanium, Steel middle and wood(not sure what) for the open and brass cap for the closed. Both are selling for 1,000 SGD. For the open its very mids focused and fast sounding. The open espect give a tight and good slam in a very controlled manner and good for J-metal and...- llysender

Got the chance to hear the brass cap loak 2 closed and I must say its quite stunning in a interesting way. While its not hifi at all it reminds me of the type of colouration where you are listening to a performance in the middle of a untreated overabsorbent bar and is quite nostalgic sounding...- llysender

Shure SRH1840 and SRH1440 Unveiled!
No the mmcx are recessed. Technically they can work but you would need to shave off part of the shell to fit and not recommended- llysender

Shure SRH1840 and SRH1440 Unveiled!
I donno, maybe Im missing something here. Sure the subbass is recessed yet noticably wet sounding like those home thetre subwoofers but thats like under 40hz and honestly not that much of note lives there. Personally I find the SRH1840 a very fun headphone for electronic generes like psytrance...- llysender

I mean the week between demos the glacier is alot more coherent over the dominating bass on first open so yes it requires a period of break in. I'll wait till after canjam SG to try again since its likely to be used a bunch and see if the bass still sounds like mush after that.- llysender

Got a chance to hear the loak 2 open today. Its really nice but I think it might be a bit too intense in the pinna area. Was wondering why it sounded a tad dark and boosting the post 8khz wasnt helping much. Removed 2dB of 3K and it was so much better. Interestingly I think that it works best...- llysender
