    Fiio BTR17

Does anyone know if the Fiio BTR17 really does support Bluetooth LE audio using the LC3 codec. If it does then which profiles does it support. Just TMAP or also GMAP?

    AKG K361/K371

Earlier this year I bought the AKG K361 out of curiosity and I quite like it. Compared to the Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7b, this is a much more enjoyable headphone. 2 issues that I have with the MSR7b is that the mid-bass is too overpowering and it also lacks sub-bass. However the AKG K361 has less...

Will this mod help lessen the mid-bass?

    AirPods Max

Sure, but a Lightning to USB cable would of made more sense in those cases in my opinion.

    AirPods Max

Yes, an amplifier will be pointless since the amplified analogue output from the amplifier just gets converted back to a digital signal through the cable's built-in ADC. The high-quality analogue signal that the DAC produces also probably doesn't matter that much either since it gets negated by...

    Convert open to closed?

I think the easiest solution is to get a another set of closed headphones for cases like these. Also maybe try moving to a different room, close the door and listen at softer volume levels.

AAC has about nothing to do about it. Like tinyman392 mentioned it's about the quality of the recording/master itself. Using a decent AAC encoder such as Apple's AAC encoder, mostly anything will be transparent at 256 Kbps. Even much lower than 256Kbps. Also HiRes is such a dumb term and...

    Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7b Impressions & Discussion Thread

I got used to the sound of the MSR7b after a few hours of listening and it's quite decent. The soundstage is wider than my HD280 PRO, but less than my Shure SRH-940. Some flaws that I picked up: - Overpowering one-tone mid-bass thump that most song seems to get. Very fatiguing after a while. Is...

    AKG K361/K371

I also have the HD650 and wouldn't use it for analyzing music. It can make any recording sound non-harsh even if the recording is a harsh recording. A screeching chalkboard will sound completely relaxing  Some details in certain songs are easier to pick up with other headphones.

    Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7b Impressions & Discussion Thread

I received my MSR7b about an hour ago. I'm listening to a few tracks and I'm not sure what to make out yet. At the moment it feels like the mid-bass is a bit too much and not much sub-bass. Treble isn't too bad. Will see if it improves a bit with more listening.

Why are there more SE headphones than balanced?

    It's because single-ended is superior. https://benchmarkmedia.com/blogs/application_notes/audio-myth-balanced-headphone-outputs-are-better

    Recommendation for open back cans

This is a difficult one, the Sundara might be a decent upgrade in sound quality, but you mentioned the earpads being an issue. Check out reviews for the HiFiMan Ananda? The HD650 would be more of an side-grade than an upgrade. Your HD598 has a slightly larger soundstage than the HD650...

Just pulled the trigger on one of these. I was contemplating between the Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO 80Ohm, AKG K361 and the Audio-Technica MSR7b. My current cans are the Sennheiser HD280 PRO(Old version), Sennheiser HD650, Shure SRH-940, Ultrasone HFI-680. Between these my favorite...

    Shure SRH-940 DIY Repair

My Shure SRH-940's headband decided to snap and now the one earcup is just dangling on a wire. I knew this would happen eventually because of all the cracking reports on this forum. I'm not planning to officially repair it at Shure, because it seems to be a design flaw in the headband itself. I...
