I forgot to add that the charger outputs 5v. Does anyone have a suggestion of which batteries to go with (alkaline or rechargeable)?

I am considering building an external battery pack for my X5. My plan is to wire up one of those battery holder things that hold 4 batteries to the same little power input thing the X5 uses. I was just wondering what sort of arrangement of batteries to use. Should I use all alkaline batteries...
