Asus Xonar DX vs. Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional
Thanks for the reply! I only mention the Fatal1ty version because there's a good rebate deal going for it, making it just ~$15 more than the DX. I do have one more question, and I know it is quite dumb, but anyway: What effect does the quality of a soundcard's headphone amplification have...- lc483

Asus Xonar DX vs. Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional
Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone has any input on this. I will be using them with M-Audio AV40 speakers and Shure SRH-440 headphones, but those are usually plugged into the AV40's when used. I probably won't be using anything else with this setup, no dac, no amp, etc. Also my order of...- lc483

M-Audio AV40 sound leakage with headphones?
I contacted customer support and the representative said it's not normal and to send them in for repair, but I must pay shipping, which could easily be $25+ for something of this size/weight. However, a different representative on the forum has posted previously that it is normal. Ahhhh! Can...- lc483

Can I use a udac->powered speakers. will it act only as a DAC or as a preamp?
Bumping this thread a bit to add a question: How would one manage the volume with the UDAC and M-Audio AV40's connected through RCA jacks? Volume on PC at 100% I assume, then what? I'd also plan to use headphones on the UDAC's 3.5mm occasionally.. Sorry for the newb question, thanks!- lc483

M-Audio AV40 sound leakage with headphones?
Hi guys, I recently received my AV40's and I noticed that with headphones plugged in there is still sound coming from the speakers. It's not too loud, but it's definitely noticeable at around 50% volume or so. Either way, it's quite annoying! I did a search online and found some others...- lc483

uDac or FiiO E7, and desktop speakers?
Hmm, thank you for the response. I don't yet have a uDAC or adequate speakers to test yet, but I suppose the quality of my motherboard may have a slight effect on the outcome. But, according to Audiofil in this thread, it should be better to connect the speakers to the uDAC rather than...- lc483

uDac or FiiO E7, and desktop speakers?
Thanks for the responses so far guys! I don't have any speakers at the moment, but I have an idea of what to look for now. So with the E7, I would want powered speakers, but with the E9 I could use small unpowered speakers? Although the same powered speakers from the E7 I assume would...- lc483

uDac or FiiO E7, and desktop speakers?
Hi guys, I've been researching but I still seem to have a lot of very basic questions when it comes to anything unrelated to IEMs. Basically I have a desktop PC with just onboard sound. I am interested in something that I can connect both headphones and some decent desktop speakers to. I...- lc483

iPhone 4
Quote: Ass! (yes pun intended). There are some new Android phones coming out soon, a Droid 2 and Droid X, I believe? Not exactly certain, it's hard to keep up when there's a new Android phone every 2 weeks. But my point is, if you are comparing the iPhone 4 to the current Android...- lc483

iPhone 4
Quote: The iPhone 4 is actually 2 grams heavier than the 3GS, but it is pretty significantly thinner and slightly less wider than the 3GS. I'm thinking of upgrading from my 3GS, but I too am dying to find out about the DAC and all the audio components compared to the 3GS!- lc483

help with Shure: SRH440 headphones
Are they too tight? Maybe you need to carefully stretch them out a bit, or put them over a pillow for a few nights. Also, look into the SRH 840's pads, they are comfier and softer. I probably wouldn't use my 440's if I didn't have the 840 pads.- lc483

Too much "wasted" space, and too much white.
The option to revert to the previous layout would be very much appreciated. Thank you- lc483

klipsch image s4i for iphone 3gs?
I'd say yes on the S4i, have one for my iPhone 3GS. The small ovals and bi-flanges are great for smaller ears as well. And in my personal experience, I found that avoiding the ovals and using the small bi-flanges or small Etymotic bi-flanges really tones down the bass and brings the mids out.- lc483
