No offense meant, but I feel we need to clear up a few things: Here are 6 pictures from the very article you cite: http://www.soomal.com/pic/20100050664.pic.htm The picture you reference is one in which the Be coating was removed from the mylar base. Mention is made of the very thin...- kimosabe

Maniac, Consider exchanging for another pair under warrantee,, as I examined my diaphragms thoroughly and the Be coating is uniform. You will need to pay domestic shipping one way, but if your cans are as bad as you say, they are far worse than mine and certainly you should return for refund...- kimosabe

Audiophile cables, an interesting question.
Firstly, I stand corrected, Steve Eddy - and thanks for the sensational link Secondly, kudos to Sam Biddle for elucidating this fascinating tale from, seemingly, the very people that had exhibited such extremely poor judgement. While most people I know would have said, "no comment" he gets a...- kimosabe

The construction is fantastic - not so much the audio quality. So far at 30 hours of burn-in. bass and treble are well represented, but not stellar. There is a disturbing lack of mid-range resulting in subdued vocals and a substantively reduced sound-stage. Some less expensive headphones (at...- kimosabe

$2 Realtek Audio Chip = $2000 DAC!
Ironic tagline quote of Stephen Wolfram. Tom's is well known for objective, appropriate test design. As in all things, you can invest orders of magnitude of effort (here, $) squeezing out the last 0.000001% of performance or efficiency from a system. I see no reason to resort to infantile...- kimosabe
