Lol to confuse things more a prominent reviewer on youtube said that Schiits equipment is meant to stay on high gain to sound best.

Looks like low gain it is then as the jot should be able to run almost anything in low gain.

I just got my Jot2 so far I have kept it in high gain with my HD650 but haven’t tired it with my HE400i yet.

Decided to keep the jot 1 AKM card, I’ll send back the ESS chip and get a modius e instead. It’s not too much more for better sound. The think I don’t like though is the usb power. The think I do like is the fact I don’t need to open it up and I keep the AKM option.

I need a suggestion here…. ESS 9028 add in card for the Jot1 vs AKM add in card (what I have now unfortunately is usb gen 5) vs a modius what is the way to go?
