Descrete diamond buffer and THS4061 or LM6171 opamps issues.

A couple of days ago I received a new pair of Alessandro headphones to replace my Grado and did further testing for the opamp switch. It just took a few days for the new phones to arrive, very good company to deal with, I'd highly recommend it to everyone. These headphones(Alessandro MS-1) are...

Just to clarify that, sorry for my ignorance.... Are Alessandro headphones related to Grado products? I heard various stories like the drivers for MS1, for example, are made by Grado but the enclosures are different and made by Alessandro team. I already ordered MS1 this noon, but wouldn't like...

thanks, wallijonn I called the local AudioCentre store here to check the prices on Grados, they realize that they are the only distributors of grado phones in the town and their markup is obscene. $190Can for SR-80 and $250 for 125 model. Another local place has AGK and I'll pay them a visit...

Descrete diamond buffer and THS4061 or LM6171 opamps issues.

PPL, I only assumed that the DB was more capacitative than HAL5002's, since the voltage-feedback type of opamps like THS4061 or THS4081 oscillated with DB, where they worked great with the chip buffers. The first cause of oscillating THS chip according to the datasheet is capacitative load. Not...

Looking for similar phones to replace my Grado80.

http://www.alessandro-products.com/headphones.html Looks like the MS-1 are pretty much the same as Grado-80. I'll probably order them if I don't like AKG 240S.

Looking for similar phones to replace my Grado80.

Yesterday I accidentally killed my 2-year old Grados during experimenting with opamp replacement for my PPA. The power offset was obviously too high when I turned off the PPA and then one of the driver was sounding quieter than the other. I noticed that the membrane used in Grado is pretty...

Descrete diamond buffer and THS4061 or LM6171 opamps issues.

I think that the most probable cause of this is the difference in capacitative loads. The DDB from Larry adds more capacitance on the amp load. The AD8610 is stable with capacitative load over 1000pF and THS4061 needs adjustments, like increasing the resistance between the opamp output and input...

Descrete diamond buffer and THS4061 or LM6171 opamps issues.

I tried replacing my opamps with LM6171 and THS4061(81) which are more superior(IMO) to the AD8610 chips installed in my PPA. The newly installed opamps(LM7161 or THS4061) work great in PPA having HAL5002 buffers but don't work with Larry's descrete diamond buffer for some reasons The sound is...

What causes harmonics on DAC output?

The THS4061/81 don't work with Diamond Buffer from Larry, giving terrible oscillations. It works great with HAL5002 though.

What causes harmonics on DAC output?

I tried 2 chips in parallel but didn't like the sound, though it was a little more powerful and dynamic. The focus and image wasn't that sharp anymore, plus the 2-chip combination would drain the battery quicker, since the TDA1543 alone consumes about 60mA. I'm working on an active opamp i/v...
