    Recabling Grado HF-1's (wood cup)

For anyone who comes across this it was very easy to get the cups off with a hair dryer. I more or less followed what is seen in this tutorial. Tried to avoid aiming directly into the driver but rather at the sides/table.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JHGJqfM0wE   And here's some...

    Recabling Grado HF-1's (wood cup)

Hey Head-Fi, loooooooong time no see :-)   I was very active on here back in the day. In fact when Googling around on "Grado HF-1" my old review showed up on the first page, ha!   http://www.head-fi.org/t/137969/my-grado-hf-1-review   Anyway, hard to believe I've had these for 11 years...

    Foobar-like audio player for Mac?

iTunes just feels like such a sledgehammer. Plus whenever I try to play off my shared drive on my network, it copies over a cache of everything locally...why? Foobar was great, it'd monitor a directory, local or remote, and you can go from there. Anything like that for Mac? --Illah

Headamp Pico not working with new Macbook Pro?

Ha, yeah it just popped up in the sound settings, but it took a while to recognize it. Not sure if it's because I switched USB ports or if it just takes a while to detect it on the first connect. --Illah

Headamp Pico not working with new Macbook Pro?

Just got a new MB Pro, Snow Leopard, and when plugging in my Pico it still plays through the normal Mac speakers. I'm a Mac newbie BTW so maybe I'm missing something, but with my PC before it was plug and play. Thoughts? --Illah

The Sennheiser HD 800: The First Listen, The First Review

Wow, that's pretty steep! Might just have to live with my HD650's for a little while longer --Illah

The Sennheiser HD 800: The First Listen, The First Review

Hey Guys, this thread is massive and I'm late to the news with the HD-800, so forgive me if this is common knowledge at this point, but any word on US pricing and release date? Thanks, --Illah

    What's your saving strategy?

Just wanted to poll here to get an idea of savings strategies. I know to some degree this is income dependent - I'm sure the wealthier ones among us can max out their 401k's and Roths each year along with a number of other investments But still, from a percentage level I'm interested to see how...

Best city in the world to live...

I'm in San Francisco and it easily qualifies. I regularly visit NYC, Miami, LA, and Chicago, and SF stands up tall. NYC is about equal in my opinion in terms of the culture-factor. Depends on your personality more than anything IMO (10x bigger, much more dense, general attitude differences)...

Best synergy with HeadAmp Pico w/ Dac?

I already have Senn HD650s and Grado HF-1s, just wondering what others would make a great pairing. FYI, both are already stunning with the Pico...especially the HD650. Damn near flawless --Illah

    MS Outlook question

Sounds like an odd config error. The PST is the file where local cached mail is stored, so in that sense you're correct, but in most (all?) cases I've seen the PST is essentially all you ever actually 'see'. In a very broad sense this is what happens when you receive mail: 1 // Outlook...

Which Graduate Study Would You Prefer?

My perspective is that I&O Psych can lead strategy and development of applications. IS would be more technical. IMO, strategy and development leads are more valuable in the sense that they are higher up the chain and closer to the decision makers. At least on the business / marketing / sales...

    HD650 cable that's flexible?

No DIY, I no longer have time for projects like that... Life has changed a bit since I was building cables ~3+ years ago...at this point it'd be more cost effective to just buy one rather than devote hours to building one --Illah
