DAC and Amp
I'll gladly head to Ibiza and listen to your setup - I assume a top tier DJ with a villa should be able to provide flight and lodging accomodations for me as well? Thanks. Oh btw a bit off topic but do you know if your buddy tiesto also enjoys BF3? We could start our own clan!- iceman23

Can you answer this question about headphone impedance?
Quote: In the case of my laptop output vs the output from my DAC/AMP, you'd have to be deaf not to notice a huge difference on either of the headphones I own - I simply cannot listen out of the laptops output anymore. As liamstrain noted, generally very high impedance headphones are...- iceman23

Can you answer this question about headphone impedance?
It all depends on the sensitivity, impedance is not the only measurement of how hard a headphone is to drive. Take the k701 for example, it is relatively low impedance but also low sensitivity. Because of this, an amp is almost a necessity. I've used a pair of D2000s, and recently 325is and I...- iceman23

Tube Amp Question
Quote: It's not a misconception, it's a scientific fact. Tubes cannot reach the low levels of distortion that a properly implemented ss amp can, as such, more tend to fall in that category, like I said (but probably more likely due to intended coloration/distortion). Likewise, a...- iceman23

Tube Amp Question
Quote: Well, I haven't had experience with the Asgard personally but I feel you're placing far too much value in how the amp will affect your sound. It could sound dull and lifeless if low/high frequencies are being heavily rolled off, I don't have enough knowledge about this model to...- iceman23

Tube Amp Question
The problem is that tube amps usually have a much higher output impedance than SS amps, and because of this, unwanted levels of distortion can arise when used with low impedance phones. While (I don't believe) Schiit doesn't release the output imepdances for their amps, I would guess this is why...- iceman23

Maverick Audio TubeMagic D1 (DAC/Amp) - Condensed FAQ and Info Thread
Quote: I thought I was the only one experiencing this! Now I don't feel as insane as before LOL. It's especially prevalent from the tube output - I can send a nasty pop/noise to my speakers if I simply touch the rca cable to the output.- iceman23

300$ none amp'ed, nice, deep bass, fast (separation), warm mids and great highs, over-ear headphones help.
Quote: He said he liked the sound of Beats, surely D2000 bass will not be too uncontrolled or loose for him. In fact I would recommend them far and away above other options based on his criteria.- iceman23

Beats by Dre Question
Who are you to judge what another person deems as sounding amazing? A lot of you people need to get off your high horses - you are acting in a manner much like those who buy Beats simply for the name/looks, only with a different motive. Quote:- iceman23
