You know, I've been wondering the answer to this as well and more broadly with any headphone, why the difference in ohms? Does it make a difference at all in sound quality? Is it because the materials used necessitate a certain impedance, or is it just randomly up to the manufacturer to decide...

I find the actual tubes on my Little Dot MK III get pretty hot, and the chassis gets pretty warm, but not enough to burn someone. In fact, I keep my headphones sitting on the little block on the back when I have it on so that they are nice and warm when I put them on, heh.

Aha, thanks Peete, I was just thinking about that as my first choice since It's relatively cheap, has a great selection of input/outputs and such. Glad to hear it matches well with the MKIII, so it might very well be my next choice. Can't wait.
