  1. Tin HiFi T4

TIN T4 is one of those IEMs that can generate, idd generated mixed emotions, at least to me. The very first time I auditioned them I almost hated them as I was assaulted by their 6KHz peak which made them come accross unacceptably bright even while playing a treble-friendly genre such as bebop. I almost trashed them after a week. Then, with a process in the end quite similar to how final E4000 sucked me in, while listening to some genres with other IEMs I noticed where such latter drivers were lacking vs my memory of the “other” T4 parts, and I...

For once, I'll put my sound analysis after my considerations, which due to some peculiar aspects of this IEM are needed as a sort of lengthy foreword to understand my experience and idea of this IEM. This story starts on the tones of a horror novel. Right after unboxing, as per usual default I plug them to my R5. After 10 minutes I was about to trash them. They just sounded horrible. As in: I don’t remember last time I heard such an unhearable crap. Bass was totally hollow. Not only “unbodied” as you might somehow expect by bad-tuned BA, but really...

I got this pair of TIN T2 Plus as a review unit from my friends at KEEPHIFI (www.keephifi.com) entrusting me to an unbiased analysis and openhearted subjective evaluation, which is what I’m reporting here below. You can purchase T2+ either at Friendly Audio Store (Keephifi official store) or at Amazon **** Store. My descriptive considerations at the bottom, let's start with the tabular analysys. Test setup Sources: Hiby R5 (Single Ended and Balance Ended port) – Fiio X3-mkIII – Tempotec V1 + Fiio BTR5 / Anaudiophile ESS DAC dongle / Apogee...
  4. iFi Nano iUSB 3.0 Power Supply

    5.00 star(s)
Simply put ifi nano iUSB3.0 is an active (i.e.: autonomously powered) device which makes communication much better between a digital music player (e.g. a laptop, a multimedia server, etc) and a USB-connected and possibly USB-powered DAC or DAC-AMP. Nano iUSB3.0 does 3 main things: 1 – Provides clean(er) power Nano iUSB3.0 forwards the clean(er) power coming from its own power supply to the downstream DAC / DAC-AMP, which will stop receiving the “dirti(er)” power coming from the host’s non-audio-grade PS, furtherly dirtied by host’s internal...
  5. MEMT R1

All about this IEM talks about the manufacturer attempting at differentiating from the crowd – which is a much needed as much as difficult exercise, considering how crowded their chosen price bracket is of successful other models. They first of all invested quite some thought onto the physical parts of the product: very lightweight, perfectly and firmly fitting, incredibly comfortable (YMMV), and nice to look at too. I reckon they will nicely appeal to a young market preferring “fresher”-looking and -feeling devices. On the more technical side...
  6. KBEAR KB04

    4.50 star(s)
Delivering good value at a (very) low price is not an easy exercise, and this is a case where that has been well executed. KB04 is an overall remarkable product in terms of price/performance and even price/quality ratios. There are a few parts I like more, others less, but no “defect” really. Those liking a bright-leaning presentation will find KB04 an outstanding performer, at a no-brainer pricing. I got this pair of KBear KB04 as a review unit from my friends at KEEPHIFI (www.keephifi.com) entrusting me to an unbiased analysis and openhearted...
  7. KBEAR Stellar

If IEMs are a sea of different models and tunings, earbuds are an ocean. These new ones from KBear feature a very modest price which might contribute to stimulate the curiosity of trying them. I would not call them all-rounders as they do come with some quite sharp pros and cons, but what they do well they actually do really well – so should their up sides match your musical tastes they would be not a bad addition to your collection at all. I got this pair of KBear Stellar earbuds as a review unit from my friends at KEEPHIFI (www.keephifi.com)...
  8. MusicMaker MrZ Tomahawk HiFi Earbud

    4.50 star(s)
These are my best (read: my preferred) earbuds as of yet soundwise. Their sole real annoyance is their size, which makes them by and large impossible to wear for some, and difficult for others (me included). I’m keeping them as they sound so well that I do use them – for short sessions – every now and then in spite of that. Test setup Hiby R5 and Apogee Groove (+ Fiio A5) as sources Lossless 16/44.1 – 24/96 – 24/192 FLAC tracks. Signature analysis Tonality: Very obviously mid-centric, backed by well calibrated yet un-extended basses and...

Well, you know: I do have a passion for final’s IEMs. First of all about their sound delivery, of course, but also about the technological effort they endure on their development, and share in good details with their customers. Is that a unique case, or maybe a tendency – a sort of “regional school” ? Is final’s attitude – and hopefully good result – common to other Japanese audio manufacturers? Intrigued by the question I recently conceded myself a go at a couple of other Made-in-Japan models, one of which is what I’m talking about today. Intime...
  10. IKKO OH10

    4.50 star(s)
In my everdeveloping quest for the best performance on acoustic jazz at a digestable price for my pockets this time I came onto Ikko OH10, which gets the job done right. All my sound priorities for this application are indeed there, and very competently carried out: significant extention both on low and high end; elevated, very fast and strictly unbleeding yet bodied, textured and detailed bass; airy, sparkly, detailed but unoffensive trebles; highmids “as good as possible” within all that precedes. These are the ingredients to cool jazz and bebop...
