So I just tried the grado mod on the kph30i and noticed that the thin wires really bend when I try to stick them in due to the tight space inside the pads. Should I be worried about this? I'd cut space in the pads to make room for the wire but I'm afraid of the pads ripping and I'd rather not...

I use the stock cable with the HD58x and don't personally notice any issues with microphonics. I do wear glasses though and notice squeaking noises whenever I move my head slightly, and that can get annoying.
