Deezer vs Spotify - bitrate / sound quality
Well, only way to use bubbleupnp + deezer on a tablet is to use the Audio Cast function. This specific option use Wanam Xposed (which itself need the Xposed Framework and a rooted compatible table). Bubbleupnp just doesn't support Deezer as a cloud service. Since I do not use Wanam Xposed...- GourouLubrik

Pioneer U-05 USB DAC/amp with dual ES9016
I did with a T50rp mod (ZMF Vibro), and the subjective result showed that it lacked power compared to beefy Violectric. But a mate was satisfied enough with a MrSpeakers Ether, so He also bought one unit. So power may prove satisfying for the most sensitives planars.- GourouLubrik

Deezer vs Spotify - bitrate / sound quality
When I reviewed Tidal, I came accross many tracks that was NOT lossless, even some unbelievably crappy 96kbps tracks. So I rage-quitted the service, and now fight against spreading the Tidal marketing ********s. So, I've have to correct you, not all tracks have better quality than...- GourouLubrik

Pioneer U-05 USB DAC/amp with dual ES9016
On another forum, I got a PM about the Lock Range, but I'd like to gather more information about your settings. I wanted to know what is your safest value (with the additional ranges) for 44.1 / 88.2-96 / 176.4-192khz with the USB input ? 1 is unusable for me, lots of dropouts. 2. is usable...- GourouLubrik

Pioneer U-05 USB DAC/amp with dual ES9016
The Pioneer is far too complex for the average diyer, it has not been done with opamp rolling in mind. It use SOIC opamp soldered directly on the pcb. © Qobuz for pictures http://www.qobuz.com/fr-fr/info/hi-fi-guide/bancs-d-essai/pioneer-u-05-un-dac-aux176367- GourouLubrik

Pioneer U-05 USB DAC/amp with dual ES9016
Got it the wrong way, I meant minimum, narrowest lock range. BTW, I can't do that on my Essence STX coaxial output, It does droupout. Still your wrong with the balanced TH-900, going SE to BAL is way mooooooore obvisous that changing any settings on the Pioneer. @Kuko61: nice pics ... do...- GourouLubrik

Pioneer U-05 USB DAC/amp with dual ES9016
Biggest problem is the weird soundstage, lacks of depth, very frontal. It was also be quite harsh in the 10khz region. Please see my old posts about this: http://www.head-fi.org/t/723304/pioneer-u-05-usb-dac-amp-with-dual-es9016/15#post_11034137...- GourouLubrik

Pioneer U-05 USB DAC/amp with dual ES9016
Regarding the What Hifi review, I've compared side by side Pioneer U-05 and the Audiolab M-Dac In dac mode (feeding a Violectric HPA-V200)... And I've kept the Pioneer. I never liked the M-Dac HPA, it was so boring, so It's no match neither... I've told it before and will told it again, I...- GourouLubrik

Pioneer U-05 USB DAC/amp with dual ES9016
I honestly doubt that the pioneer use external usb 5V, there is no good reason for a dac of this level to do this, even powering the dirty side of an isolator would better be done with another local regulator. I did not test yet the pioneer variable ouput... but the Alps potentiometer can be...- GourouLubrik

Pioneer U-05 USB DAC/amp with dual ES9016
No I don't... You should test it throught a digital multimeter, if not, at least visually where it's connected. for both solution, you'll have to dismount the cups and have access to drivers. The pinout of the pioneer is located in an additional PDF, the base manuel had an error. =>...- GourouLubrik

Pioneer U-05 USB DAC/amp with dual ES9016
The Fostex cable is supposed to already high grade 7N copper... so changing the whole cable could be quite unnecessary. Still, I wanted to do a 8 wire braid on my own (8x24awg, so actual section is equal to 4x22awg)... And I did it, and I wouldn't want to do another one, it was quite...- GourouLubrik

Pioneer U-05 USB DAC/amp with dual ES9016
I did some new test on my balanced TH-900... Still not believed my ears, I had to use my DMM to verify if my balanced to SE adapter had something wrong... and cannot find any problem, It's working... The adapter use highest grade Neutrik XLR4 and Amphenol 1/4 jack, and forza audioworks OCC...- GourouLubrik

Pioneer U-05 USB DAC/amp with dual ES9016
With the 7 filters in the mdac, that's a tough one... Honestly I've no answer about the bass quality from the dac. - I've no desktop amp anymore. - I may test on my speakers... but that's gonna be tough to perform without getting my neighbours to call the police.- GourouLubrik

Pioneer U-05 USB DAC/amp with dual ES9016
Well, I don't know for him, but for my balanced TH-900... I've bought a second unit (at an amazing price) that I will leave at work. I've sold Violectric HPA v200, and selling my M-Dac. Don't get me wrong, don't ever buy a Pioneer in order to drive an orthodynamic. It would be a mistake. ...- GourouLubrik

Pioneer U-05 USB DAC/amp with dual ES9016
I own a m-dac too. after a quick test of there dac out on my v200, I found out that Pioneer is ahead in term of what matters to me (resolution, transparency & soundstage). I event didn't bother to compare headphone out. I do not like the headphone out of the M-Dac, technically clean but so...- GourouLubrik
