New Xin Reference Amp by Dr. Xin !!!

The 2nd RE sounded very soft, or you can put it as "tube-like" out of box. It's the opposite from what I expected. After one night's burn-in, it opened up a lot yet its soundtage was very wide without the depth as in Micro. Xin told me that he ran out of parts for some caps and for whatever...

New Xin Reference Amp by Dr. Xin !!!

The very first batch of RE has the same circurt scheme as Macro LE, and that's why I found it sounded closer to LE other than Micro. After 5/19, Dr. Xin made some critical changes to the RE to make it closer to Micro. Even so, they are still very different. From the email in the past two days...

Xin SuperMicro-IV VS RSA Tomahawk Impressions

Heard of so much praises, I coudn't help from digging out the vintage Micro IV (made way back to early 06). This thing still sounds amazingly good with my HD600. Then I tried to apply some latest tweaks from Xin's; not all tweaks could be implemented without proper parts. I have to admit that...

Xin's back in development mode.. again

The current going through the batteries in Macro's with 8 AAA's or 4 AAA's is the same. The difference is 8AAA's have more headroom in voltage. Big cap lower the impedance of power supply further. 15000uf has 0.5ohm at 20HZ. Plus 4 AAA's have 1/2 internal imedance of that of 8AAA's. I...

Xin Channel IV amp appreciation thread

Second the idea of getting the SM3 upgraded. Sm3 can sound much better with right implementation. I still prefer my SM3 combo over SM4

Those who waiting Xin amp, post and get your date of arrival !

OP275 and AD8610 are more detailed than OPA627, let alone OPA2134. BB chips tend to be rich and dark.

Free upgrade for Super macro/mini/micro III

It seems the III with the upgrade is still III, not IV; But some tweaks developed in IV should work very well in III as well. It's a good move to have these upgrade.

    Question about Xin amps

As far as I know, you can send it in anytime you want to get the free upgrade no matter it's first hand or 2nd hand. But it's better off to hold it on a bit till thing's settled down aas the longer you wait, the more improvement in sound you can expect. Just my two cents.

Those who waiting Xin amp, post and get your date of arrival !

SR71 is a great sounding portable, same as SM IV's. I am reluctant to compare the two given the continuing changes in SM IV. Unless Xin fixes his design, it's unlikely to have a conclusion. In addition, there's are many other factors other than sound to define which one is "better"; Finally...
