Auzentech X-Fi Prelude Released
Its not the hot outputs that make the difference. Its the size and quantity of caps on the card that will determine if you need amplification. It will improve with amplification as the largest cap on the Prelude is 470uF (rail to rail), not rail to GND. I think if you could mod the Rail to GND...- goldenslug

Auzentech X-Fi Prelude Review
Hey I just got the card and installed it in my computer. I have to admit its a huge improvement from my x-fi platinum. Well it may not be huge, but its definitely noticeable. I find that the music has much more weight to it and the bass is soooo much fuller. The bass almost feels like speakers...- goldenslug

Auzentech X-Fi Prelude Review
I'd like to know if the Pins are compatibles with the Platinum front panel. I've already ordered this card and still have to wait a week for it to come it. Also, in the review are both cards being used at the same time?- goldenslug

Auzentech Prelude rumor mill
I think it should cost about $200 US. I personally like the fact the headphone jack has the LM4562 already installed. I could care less about the other outputs because they are typically used for speakers anyways. The OPA2134 are some pretty good opamps. I just hope that the card has...- goldenslug

AKG K701 Build Quality?
That's great how you guys found their build quality is top notch. The AKGs still feels a bit weak compared to Beyer and Sennheiser considering that they use metal and some carbon graphite composite in their respective designs. I guess it'd take me a while to get over their use of plastics...- goldenslug

AKG K701 Build Quality?
Hey all, I just got the K701, so I now completed the mid-hi holy trinity (650, 880s and 701s). But when I opened the AKG I was kind of disappointed by the build quality of the AKGs when compared to the sennheisers and Beyers. It looks like those 2 elastics keeping the headband down can snap...- goldenslug

Gilmore Lite question
The volume has nothing to do with the volume control (potentiometer). It's dependent on the gain of the amplifier as well as the input music levels.- goldenslug

AGND vs. DGND Question
Hey, I'm planning on doing an amp with an integrated USB DAC based off the PCM2702, but I'm unsure if it is safe to have the AGND and the DGND seperate. The problem with most opamp based headamp is that they use a +-Supply while the DAC IC uses just a single supply. So I was wondering if...- goldenslug

Pimeta Gain Problem
I finished building an amp with a similar layout to the Pimeta and I have a problem with my right channel. Earlier today it was working perfectly but now the gain on my right channel is now 1 as opposed to 10. I think that it is because R3 (in the pimeta schematics) isn't soldered correctly...- goldenslug

Soldering Iron of Choice
Just wondering what is your preferred tool of choice. I personally bought myself a Weller WESD51, which is a very good soldering iron, but I've used the Weller MT-1500 and it smokes my soldering station in precision, heating speed and overall ease of use. But then again, that thing is like 4...- goldenslug

Optimal Mp3 Bitrate
Hi I was just wondering what is the lowest bitrate for mp3s in which you find it indistinguishable from CDs or FLAC. Please post your setups. I find that with poorer recordings I have trouble distinguishing the CD from 128K lame and with better ones its 192K. I wonder if the reason I can't...- goldenslug
