The order in which you connect the cables and operate the on/off switch determines whether it runs from battery or external power. This is shown in the manual. Apologies if this is not what you are asking.

Hi all. I'm returning to this thread to report that after a long break, using my iDSD from my computer, I returned to connecting it to my SB Touch and it just worked! The only difference is that i used a different and high-quality USB cable. So it might just have been a cable issue. Cheers...

Google for 'Bit-perfect playback foobar'. There are many tutorials. Basically, you have to stop Windows doing its own thing with the playback.

Yup. Its definitely switched on. Since I posted I have verified on my pc that the DAC is working properly. Still won't work with sb touch.

Low output from Monica - Yes, definitely. I needed a significant advance of volume control compared to other sources. My valve/tube amp has about 80K input impedance. Your stated preference makes me think that you would prefer the Monica. I think both DACs will give you the detail you seek...

I have used both DACs. For my ears, the Zhaolu, in it's Eddie-modded 'Blackgate' version with the Crystal DAC is far superior to the Monica. It's difficult to give advice as our tastes may differ but I found the Monica thin and cold sounding. The Zhaolu seemed to be rich while still...

A question if may please. Does anyone know the voltages across the 4 Muse Bi-Polar coupling caps into the Op Amps and the 3 Muse Bi-Polar caps on the DAC board? I am after the actual voltages not the voltage ratings, as I would like to know if 6.3v caps would be a safe substitute. TIA!
