Muddy and dark sounding? That really doesn't sound like the HD 598's! Are you sure they didn't come with some kind of defect? Or have you tried them in different setups?- Flax95

Personally, I wouldn't go for any of those in public. They are simply too bulky, not really portable and leaks sound. I use IEMs myself, but that might not suit you. You could, however, take a look at the Superlux IEMs, they are said to be good.- Flax95

Ahh, okay, you are actually right, Starting Over sound pretty damn good with them! Could find better matches than Right Now and the HD598s though, but thats just my opinion. Regarding the EVOs... I would say they have much more bass than the Senns but not as much as the audio technicas...- Flax95

Just checked out the Superlux website and it seems like they've been work on a new set of headphones, the HD 685s - and they actually look really, REALLY nice! I wonder if someone heard anything about these? Here is a picture from their site: Looks premium, can't wait!- Flax95

Yea, Superlux did an amazing job with them! It's the only one of their products I've heard so far, but I've been thinking about buying their HD 381 F IEMs... I'm afraid they don't isolate good enough for when I'm using the train or bus, but hey, at their price I might aswell try them! :P- Flax95

Hip-Hop, really? Haven't tried using the Senns for that yet, perhaps I should. I've been using my Superlux HD 681 EVOs for modern music and bass-heavy stuff so far... - Check the Superluxs out btw, they are an absolute STEAL!- Flax95

Well, if you like the feel and sound of open headphones, go with the Senns. I don't know why K550 seems to be more recommend to you, but I promise you that the HD 598s is a great set of cans and they have got so much more to them than you'll hear at your first go with them. Boring? That's the absolute last word I would even consider using about the HD 598s! I think they are very fun and detailed and worth a listen nomather how high-end stuff you've tried before, I love mine! - And if comfortability is what you are looking for, these are definitely it, I prefer...- Flax95

I'm a 100% sure my HD 598's isn't a fake! :P My point wasn't that I liked my superlux's more, I'm just using my superlux's more right now because I feel like it, mostly because it is, as stated, better suited for modern stuff and media. Well, things have been pretty busy lately and I guess they will be so for a couple of weeks, but I can tell you that I actually ended up buying a pair of Superlux HD 681 EVO's! Lack of detail? Wow, never thought I would ever hear that said about the 598's, but I haven't tried the HD600, so I wouldn't be able to make a comparison, however, I have a hard time thinking I'll get rid of my HD 598's anytime soon, such a fun pair!
