Yamaha HPH-200 (Pictures and review) [Updated]

I have sent Oratory1990 a pair and he has measured them in the lab. I have the results. If they don't eventually show up at https://www.reddit.com/r/oratory1990/wiki/index/list_of_presets/ , you can send me a PM and I will send them to you for private use only. I respect the work he put into...

Goodhertz Audio plug-ins (CanOpener and Mid-Side)

Hello, I've been using CanOpener and Midside for a few weeks now (trial) and today I decided to buy them both because I found them to have a clearly positive effect. I have turned them on and off a hundred times during those weeks and I think I preferred them activated in I'd guess 98% (yes...

Why do some tracks sound bad on (small) speakers, but not headphones?

Interesting info about the iPhone 12. Though the Air M1 is rather new too. My question was more about: Why just this track. 99% of music sounds fine on the iPhone XS and M1, but this particular track causes massive problems with both - but non with my HPH200 headphones. I just found that...

Why do some tracks sound bad on (small) speakers, but not headphones?

Thank you for the video, this is exactly what I meant! I wonder what the cause is! It also sounds rather bad depending on volume on the MBA M1 too. I can listen to other stuff at much higher volumes with the MBA without such distortion. It might have to do with certain instruments, yes, in...

Why do some tracks sound bad on (small) speakers, but not headphones?

Hello, this track sounds horrible on my iPhone XS and Macbook Air M1 (speakers), but not on my headphones (HPP-200 (48ohm) @M1 MB Air 3.5mm out. Could somebody explain please why this happens with some songs but not others?

External speakers for a MacBook: Setup recommendations

So, I've spent quite some time reading on speakers, and in the end I decided I'm not going to buy speakers at all for the time being, and instead first upgrade my HPH-200 to top-of-the-line Sennheisers (which I don't know yet), and an amp. If anyone stumbles across this thread, I found this...

External speakers for a MacBook: Setup recommendations

MacBook Air M1 2020 Hello, I've been experiencing listening fatique (as a result of little air circulation and general sensitivity to wearing (any) pair of headphones) despite having really lightweight, open phones (Yamaha HPH-200); I think I would enjoy alternating phones and speakers. I've...

Streaming platforms: Connect with "musical taste soulmates"

FYI, I have been using both last.fm (connected to Spotify) (go to "neighbors", and tastebuds. Whilst it is possible to find people with similar taste there, things are not well optimized. Spotify would be able to do a much better job.

    A beginner's comparison of Sennheiser HD239 and Yahama HPH-200

After a week of listening exclusively with HPH-200, here's what happened: - The cushioning of the HPH is somewhat too hard, it could and should be softer. - Again, the air pocket of these on-ears is so comfortable, hardly any moisture build-up inside the ears. - really clear sound, sounds high...

    A beginner's comparison of Sennheiser HD239 and Yahama HPH-200

OK, after more time listening, the Yamaha clearly wins. I think it's like when you get a new, better car. You are used to your old one and the new one feels weird and you miss some things and you feel uncomfortable for a while, for example if the steering is super easy you will feel annoyed by...

Sennheiser HD 239 - is there no demand for a successor?

I'd like to thank @Elegiac very much for his recommendation of the HPH-200, which I bought. Great forum!!!

Streaming platforms: Connect with "musical taste soulmates"

Streaming platforms such as Spotify have intricate algorithms that help them suggest new music to users that they will likely like (Discover Weekly for example). With 200,000,000 million paid subscribers plus free users, it is a very interesting thought to connect with those handful of people...
