With i9-9900K you should be able to upsample to EC7/DSD256 with no issue, and I have seen many do it with i9700K. Have you try setting "Multicore" to "Auto"? Another thing to check is using the Intel's Turbo Boost. In the BIOS, make sure to set turbo to "on". With i9-9900K, I see users...

I ran DSD512 non-2s filters for a long time until the new EC modulators came out. My new preference is DSD256 with ASDM7EC. Give it a try, hopefully your computer will do it without stutters.

Sounds like a good plan...meanwhile, keep the music file running without turning on the amp while you are doing the warm up. A nice way to get the DAC go through the burn-in process.

If it was 1.536MHz sampling rate you were asking, then yes, Terminator can handle it quite well, the dropouts you referred to normally is caused by a less powerful computer.
