    "Upgrade in sound may be imperceptible to some or incremental in some devices". Here you can add also that it might be also a downgrade in sound in some devices - including old Burson products, like the Play.

    1. I know it's a rendering and how tubes works and the LED's used in most current products, but it really looks like a lighter. :) 2. Didn't know about the Snowsky brand and I just saw now the Anywere was launched only days ago. But I'm thinking about something more professional - like BT...

    @FiiO any chances for a reboot of the M3Pro ? Well... I know it's a no, but it was probably the best player (for the bucks) I ever own. Paired with the Letshuoer S12Pro it beats every player I ever heard up to 4 time it's price. But who knows - if you like vintage/retro...

    The main sound is provided by the I/V Op-AMP's. The buffer or pre only add some coloration.

    Playmate 2 is newer than my old Play and it's compatible. They even sell upgrade packs for it.
