CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
I only hear from my local Canadian dealer about how these deals work. It maybe different in the UK. Obviously what we hear is Nintronics version of the story. Sometimes there are exclusivity deals where the dealer can’t sell other brands. Sometimes the dealer is required to stock every product...- ecwl

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
Yeah I am not sure if you’ve read a comment I made in the past at the M-Scaler forum. I’m personally convinced that about or at least 5-10% of people who got or tried an M-scaler cannot hear improvements in transient accuracy despite going from 40,000-164,000 taps to 1 million taps. This is...- ecwl

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
I think I have said it before on this forum that some people just like R2R DAC sound. That is my polite version of the comment. My honest opinion is that R2R DAC introduces measurable harmonic distortions that people find euphoric and prefer. Sometimes I wonder if Rob Watts would add this kind...- ecwl

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
Are you feeding your Hugo 2 with the Bluesound node? Are you using the USB connection or the Toslink connection? Try taking out the USB cable and use a Toslink cable between the Hugo 2 and Bluesound Node and see if you like the sound better. You can’t A/B this because as long as the USB cable...- ecwl

The New Chord Quartet M Scaler Discussion Thread
Normally, I would say room acoustic matters a lot more than speakers. That said, if you are using Krell speakers per your profile, I have to admit speaker technology has improved by a lot since Krell last made speakers I think. So I would also concur with everyone else that a speaker upgrade...- ecwl

Watts Up...?
Somehow I doubt it. Granted, I don't have Suzi or TT2 But I do have DAVE and Chord Etude. Both are based on/related to TT2 and Suzi technology. I would say Etude is not as transparent as DAVE. Except DAVE can't drive my speakers so I need the Etude. I even debated whether to switch to a TT2 just... -
CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
Your DAVE and M-Scaler should each come with a free Toslink cable in the box I think. I’m pretty sure.- ecwl

Watts Up...?
I was about to start listening to John Culshaw - The Art of the Producer on Qobuz. Reading the liner notes, it talked about how people didn’t think stereo was superior to mono recordings at the time. And it reminded me of quotes from Culshaw in Ring Resounding: “The listener will be able to... -
CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
I was under the impression that DAC manufacturers have to pay royalties in order to be allowed to decode HDCD. So I didn’t think Chord DACs support HDCDs. I think most of us just rip the HDCD with a decoder so it’s saved as a 24-bit 44kHz file. I know it’s not really a practical solution for...- ecwl

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
I think this answers your question. Basically DSD goes straight to 705.6kHz PCM https://www.head-fi.org/threads/hugo-m-scaler-by-chord-electronics-the-official-thread.885042/post-15944973- ecwl

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
I used to have my DAVE XLR connected to my stereo power amplifier for my speakers and the DAVE RCA connected to the powered subwoofers and run them simultaneously and never had any problems from 2016-2021. Maybe in hindsight DAVE did run hotter than it does now (where I only have the RCA...- ecwl

To make matters even more complicated: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/watts-up.800264/post-17345243 So as of 2023, Rob Watts has the HF filter set to off with DAVE when using M-Scaler.- ecwl

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
Chord DAC and upsampler designs are so complex, it's hard to keep track of what's what. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/chord-electronics-hugo-2-the-official-thread.831345/post-15103359 The HF filter is implemented very late into the FPGA process. So while it is a digital filter, it is not...- ecwl

Watts Up...?
Very cool summary. I have found Deep Research a little verbose for me. I think one aspect of jitter Deep Research didn’t discuss is that DAVE’s high jitter rejection/immunity is as much related to the digital PLL (which other companies have) as to the DAC architecture of the pulse array DAC... -
Watts Up...?
Thank you. That makes a lot more sense. At first I thought the new Chord Pro product’s name is Dante but that’s not the case here. As you pointed out that box is just using the Dante AoIP interface. As to what the product actually does, it’s really hard to say other than it supports the Dante...
