Pahini said: "Part of the HA-2 experience as well, is just actually holding it in your hand.....it is so well built, it's a first-class piece of equipment from top to bottom. It feels solid, it looks elegant, the leather covering caresses :) It's expensive, and it feels expensive." Agree...- earl grey

Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread
Forgot to mention that I use the bass boost much of the time I am listening. It is not a typical bass boost, "loudness control", sort of thing. Much much better. It gives the bass a slight boost without ruining the mids and above. I worry that when I go to a desktop I will need to find a...- earl grey

yes, I use what they call the "hifi" files which are apparently hi-res files. Between Tidal, HD 600 and the HA-2 I am enjoying the tunes. Thanks for the recommendation of the TX-X00 and 650. At this point I am amazed at the bass that comes from the 600. Yes, I could use more....lol ...- earl grey

Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread
Full disclosure: I have gotten into headphones very recently and have only heard the HD 600 through the HA-2. This makes my feedback somewhat limited but here is what I would say. I love the sound. I had no idea that a headphone could sound so good. The clarity and presence is stunning...- earl grey

Thanks DeadHead57 - Great to hear that that combination is working well for you. I am steering clear of the crack since I am not a "kit" type. I remember my brother and father (both EE's) back in the 1960's loving the Heathkit stuff and building some cool projects. It was clear that they...- earl grey

Thanks Bill, appreciate the good info. Fascinating that the solid state needs to be warm also. I had not heard that and had figured that it was a binary off or on scenario. Interesting. I have wondered about the more expensive schitt amp the Mjolnir 2. It's considerably more expensive but...- earl grey

Thanks for this Bob. I am on the verge of buying a Valhalla 2 and Bifrost to pair with my hd 600. I've never had a tube amp, at least not for the last 40 years (yes, an old Fisher I wish I still had...) and I wonder whether I should stick with SS..I am guessing I will be leaving this on for...- earl grey

Also looking for an amp. At this point I am using the HA-2 with the HD-600 and am very happy but wondering if things can get even better with a desktop. Would love to hear from those who have experience with this. BH Crack seems to have quite a following would love to hear more from others...- earl grey

The Sennheiser HD-600 thread
I would urge you to consider the Oppo HA-2. It is portable and pairs very will with the HD-600. I have both and love them.- earl grey

Thanks UBS28 - Actually I am very pleased with the 600's and was just asking for ideas about upgrading. Raybone suggested the 800's and I was curious to hear what sorts of improvements one might expect.- earl grey

Thanks Raybone. That's a direction I wasn't considering. Interesting. I hadn't heard much about the 800's. What kind of improvements would I hear? I use two subwoofers in my regular system and have grown very used to deep bass. You don't get that with the 600's and I am guessing you don't...- earl grey

Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread
I've had my hd-600's for a couple of months and am very, very pleased. I really didn't know that sound of this quality could come from headphones. I have played a number of musical instruments, mostly percussion, and am pretty picky when it comes to sound quality. These things rock. I have...- earl grey

OPPO HA-2 Portable Headphone Amplifier/DAC Discussion Thread
I am fairly new to headphones but not so new to good sound reproduction. These forums helped me to start off with the HD-600 and I am very appreciative for this. After a short break-in period they have sounded stellar. I was listening mostly via my imac via the 3.5 jack. The sound was good...- earl grey
