McIntosh MHA200 Impressions
When I purchased When I purchased my unit from a local dealer, I also had this same problem. I took my unit back to my dealer and replicated what I was hearing for them. They ordered new tubes for me which resolved my problem.- drroman66

McIntosh MHA200 Impressions
So I am using my new MHA200 with my Empyreans. They sound amazing. However, without being fed an audio signal I can hear what seems to be faint static or feedback. When playing music with quieter passages it is evident as well. Any one else experience this with this amp and their headphones...- drroman66

I have had mine for almost two weeks now, and I would say connected to main power source serves mine very well. I have Meze Empyrean, AKG N5005, and Audeze LCD i4’s. They all sound better from mains than off battery.- drroman66

If my memory serves me correctly I would have to agree with your assessment. Though the M17 does quite well, and wow the amp is top notch.- drroman66

M I have demoed the Hugo 2 extensively when I started my quest. The Dac is excellent much better than my M15. My M17 blows the Hugo 2 away as a headphone amp though. Kind the best of both worlds really. Very solid dac performance and excellent amp performance all in one tidy package.- drroman66

I have only had my unit a couple of days, but regardless I have not heard the crackling noise. From reading the other posts, it does seem to be a rather common issue.- drroman66

Yes I will. My goal is to decide if the M17 by itself will satisfy me versus my M15 and a good desktop amplifier.- drroman66
