    Hifiman IEM's: RE-400 and RE-600

Of course, my used pair of re-400 had to break. Sent in for a replacement, and instead received... re-400i. Well... IMO, cable sucks massively. I mean it. Microphonic, severely bent to the shape in which it was shipped, the lower wire isn't fabric-coated, both upper and lower cable material is...

Help me decide which of these IEMs to buy, buying today.

You probably already know about it, but http://theheadphonelist.com/headphone-list/ is a great way to sort through iems.

Help me decide which of these IEMs to buy, buying today.

I haven't tried any of these, but, from reading other's reviews, the sound quality isn't that great on se215. Gr07 would be on a completely different level, especially on revealing details of the song. On the other hand, gr07 have a sibilance problem and might not suit someone who's...

    Hifiman IEM's: RE-400 and RE-600

12/18/2017 Welp, I bought a pair, and am answering my own questions x) Who knows, there might be another doomhead searching in the future. These little fellas certainly have enough bass. They don't possess the rumble that my 8320 had, but it by no way diminishes the quality of the music and...

    Hifiman IEM's: RE-400 and RE-600

Hello, folks. Excuse me for my question - I really need some help, and have no means of trying these out myself. Can anyone comment on how well do RE-400 work for sludge/doom/stoner/drone type of music? (where bass plays an important role. Not the hip-hop boom, but rather the clarity, speed...

    ATH m40x sound leak?

Yuhp, already deaf beyond 15-16kHz, at 19. The regrets over past choices are right at my doorsteps :) Just a little bit more, and headphones with sharp highs and sibilance are no longer a problem haha. I've decided to look for more isolating iems. On top of the limited sound leak, there would...

    ATH m40x sound leak?

Hello, head-fi. I'm choosing headphones to be used in public setting, such as a library, or next to a roommate with an audiophile's dream type of ultra-sensitive hearing. After about a month of research, I'm still coming back to m40x. Seems like a good deal, but the sound leak is what bothers...

    New Member Introductions thread

Hey, I'm a broke college student. Non-audiophile. My entire audio experience is, pretty much, monoprice 8320 (9927, specifically). Like, 5 pairs of them over 3 years, loved to literal death. Nothing fancy. I'm finally planning to spend more than a broken quarter on my gear. Like, ~60 bucks...

    RHA ma750 / ATH-m40x / RE-400? (sound quality, no sound leak, isolation)

yeah, a proper seal is vital, my cheapo 8323 improved unbelievably after modding the eartips. Thanks a lot for the comparison, that's invaluable when you can't compare the headphones yourself. I might actually get them.

    RHA ma750 / ATH-m40x / RE-400? (sound quality, no sound leak, isolation)

Thanks for the reply! RE-400's more neutral sound is definitely a plus, but I wonder if anything is sacrificed with the huge price difference compared to ma750, besides the build quality. Some sources say 400 sound better, others state ma750 as the best within the price bracket.

    RHA ma750 / ATH-m40x / RE-400? (sound quality, no sound leak, isolation)

True indeed. I'm trying to discount for the, for a lack of a better word, "hype" around it, since i've heard that iems within this price range tend to be a better bet, and not all good products get enough reviews. But i'm very much planning on getting them later on. What makes me want to...

    RHA ma750 / ATH-m40x / RE-400? (sound quality, no sound leak, isolation)

Hello Head-Fi! I need some advice on choosing the right headphones. The big question is: ATH-m40x, RE-400, or RHA ma750? (buying used). Can a higher quality IEM like ma750 rank up to m40x? Portability doesn't matter, but it should have no sound leak and a decent isolation. Behinds the story...
