    New Phones: FS1

thanks for the pic, from the website it looked like some aweful silver molded hard plastic. now it looks like a nice set of canalphones. definitely excited to hear a new product in this underrepresented price-range. (but I'll let somebody else preorder them...)

    Cleaning MD33s

Thanks. I thought I would need a tiny tool to clean out the grate, but pressing firmly with the alcohol-laced q-tip seems to have done the trick. After a little scraping, influenced by the snow-plows outside.

    Cleaning MD33s

My trusy Sharp MD33s are beginning to get a little over-waxy with use, now that I've pretty much stopped rotating other phones into my lineup. I'm almost exclusively using the MD33s. Unlike Shures and Etys, these don't come with replacement filters or cleaning tools. What do people recommend for...

TV headphones required for hard-of-hearing Father

I bought my hard-of-hearing grandmother a pair of Sennheiser RS85s and they worked great. RF gives you much better range of motion than IR, although that might not matter for his purposes (nor did it really for her's). RS65 will likely work just as well.

Need advice on low budget-low profile headphones

the KSC-35s are indeed an excellent choice. for canalphones, i would recommend the Sharp MD33 available from Audiocubes.com for $39 + shipping. they have the same formfactor as the Sonys, but with much better sound. their much sharper midrange leads to clearer bass.

    Best wireless phones for TV?

each battery lasts about 4 hours. it comes with two, which has proven enough for me. them again, your brother might be using them for the entire James Bond marathon; who knows?

    Best wireless phones for TV?

IMO, currently Sennheiser makes the best consumer-level RF wireless headphones, perfect for watching TV. the RS65 or RS85 (RS65 is a much better value). i have two RS85s and like them very much. good isolation, good reception for RF phones.

    earphones and earwax

Isn't Ciloxan for your eyes? Did your ENT recommend that for your ears? Replying to earlier posts, Q-Tips should only be used to clean your outer ears, and should not be inserted into the ear canal. Using Q-Tips to clean your ear canal is more likely to push wax back than to clear it out. I...

Finally happy with my Sony EX71

yes, the MD33s have different ear cord lengths, the same as Sony. i'm not a fan of it either, but you learn to get used to it, or at least tolerate it. as for the 4-pole plug, check out this mod to convert it to a 3-pole plug. you can then plug it directly into your iPod remote or the iPod...

Canal phones, small ear canals, and a few other questions

for a $60 limit, Sharp MD33s are the only way to go. For a $120 limit, since you have an amp, I would check out Shure E3c's. (Haven't heard the Westone UM1's, but they would also fit within a $120 limit.) And again, since you have an amp, perhaps look for used ER-4's instead of ER-6i's. With...

    EX71SL or EX51LP

not in the US, but apparently they do overseas. in the US, the 51s only come in the long cord, the 71s with short+extension.
