Sharp eyes. I got them custom made by Vesper Audio. I kept the original pads as spare but I use the original mesh with the metal ring. The custom earpads are slightly thicker than the original pads overall, but are made with the same slope, same foam insert material and sound very similar to the OG.- Dingding123

Definitely an interesting finding with the 007 filters. Hopefully ES Labs can release a pair of such filters so that we don’t have to cannibalise other headphones just for the filters :P- Dingding123

Review by 'Dingding123' on item 'ES Lab ES-2 alpha (ES-2a) Electrostatic Headphones'
<Repost. This review was first posted on the ES2a discussion thread.> I was an early adopter of ES Lab’s ES1a, which I bought back in mid-October 2020. Fast forward four and a half years, the ES1a is still serving me well—but when ES Lab announced the ES2a, I reached out to Benson Wong over...- Dingding123

[Review] ES-Lab ES2a – A Respectful Nod to the Omega, with a Voice of Its Own I was an early adopter of ES Lab’s ES1a, which I bought back in mid-October 2020. No disassembly needed to put in the mesh. Just need to fold the mesh like an inverted taco to slip it in between the inner grille and the earpad hole. Sure if you insert a different mesh the sound will be different. I wonder what is the rationale behind asking users to insert the mesh...- Dingding123

A few unboxing photos and a few initial thoughts on the ES-2a The ES-2a unboxing experience brough me a lot of nostalgia from 5 years ago when I got the the ES-1a in Dec 2020. Very similar package design and the same old wooden box for ES-1a and ES-R10. A lot of thought has been put into the...- Dingding123

ES-R10 closed back dynamic headphone Sony R10 Replica Discussion/Impressions
Number 68 here. I came from the ES-1a e-stat headphones. Just wanna say the ES R10s are overall a great pair of headphones. It's definitely different from the estat sound I'm used to. Build quality is not perfect but definitely not terrible either. It feels comfortable to me even after...- Dingding123

ES Labs ES1a (homage to the Stax SR Omega)
Thanks! It's significantly heavier than the 007, but it doesn't feel uncomfortable to wear due to the wide headband. The clamping force isn't as strong. I usually remain seated at my desk when I listen to music through headphones, but if I were to bend down, then yes, the clamping force isn't...- Dingding123

ES Labs ES1a (homage to the Stax SR Omega)
I've been using the ES-1a almost daily for about 4 months now. I feel that these are underrated and the audiophile community deserves to know them. Before I start my review, I just wanna declare that I have no conflict of interest with anybody in the headphone industry. I bought the ES-1a at...- Dingding123

Some VERY interesting Chinese DIY Electrostats
The socket is a Weipu WS20 6 pin, available on Amazon. Initially I unknowingly hooked up the original energizers to a DIY balanced CFA2, and the output transistor simply overheated and smoked. I was quite puzzled so I decided to take some simple measurements on the energizer transformer, and...- Dingding123

Some VERY interesting Chinese DIY Electrostats
As for the energizer, I have opened them up to see. It is essentially a SRD-7 - two set-up transformers with a 9v to 500v upconverter. The upconverter is a sealed blackbox, but it works to produce some small amount of charge for the stator bias. The transformers are likely to be output...- Dingding123

Gosh I have these too. With all due respect sir, your impression of these babies' bass is just... wrong. Your impression sounds quite typical of a pair of cans that's underpowered and I suspect the energizer is the culprit. These cans have some of the hardest hitting electrostatic bass I've ever...- Dingding123

it sounds less focus and intimate compared to the leonidas. The soundstage is wider too.- Dingding123
