Holy carp, have you tried Rockbox's 5G iPod Hardware EQ?

    Yamaha YDS-10 i-pod dock

Thought it might be. I suspect all the car audio heads now which can dock to ipods are reading files via usb transfer, so analog's a bit lame for a home receiver...

    Yamaha YDS-10 i-pod dock

Suspect its just analog in with some serial control functions from the amp. Denon & Pioneer have ipod connectivity too - there's a Denon page somewhere that claims digital connectivity but it would need to read files (like USB transfer) as I don't think there's a digital stream on the ipod dock...

Ipod 5g+PX100 -> How close to full potential ?

At the end of the day it's a portable audio device made to a (relatively) low budget used to play (mostly) compressed audio files. Using high quality interconnects from the line out to a high end audio system it sounds 'ordinary' - no amount fudge can change the fundamental accuracy of the...

    MP3Gain/AACGain: Problems?

Thanks for the explanation Sumguy Another question: I've noticed after converting MP3s (using the usual EAC --> LAME 3.90 VBR method) that MP3 gain reports some tracks as clipping. Does this mean the conversion is flawed and that dropping the level with MP3Gain is only lowering the level ?

    MP3Gain/AACGain: Problems?

So does anyone understand exactly what Eupod (or Sound Check in itunes) is doing ? Presumeably it's boosting after any digital processing if there's no clipping (?)

    MP3Gain/AACGain: Problems?

I've tried mp3gain (89db) on a few files on my PC and sent them over and they did not distort when using the EQ presets. It's still a shame that the presets are so 'extreme' but. Most of my music is now on my pod and it seems a hassle to move it off and on again. I notice the author of the...
