your not gonig to get anything better sounding then the pc160s with a mic, seriously if your looking for something with higher quality sound your gonna have to ditch the headset and where it around your neck(for the mic). and pic up a real set of cans. IMO, i've tried alot of the 'hifi' gaming...

don't forget IRQ's, the noise from your onboard sound when you moved your mouse, i'd bet they were sharing IRQ's (sound and mouse). its something worth checking into.

i recomend the mdr-sa1000 for streight outa soundcard setup for gamming, can be had for around $100 online link imo i think the brighter sound of the sonys are better suited for gamming

for gamming i recommed the sa1000 the speed and brightness are great for fps, i also had some v6 that i used for gamming for a long while and they aren't _bad_ by any strech but i think you could do better with the sa1000. they might be a little out of your budget i think i saw them for 120 ish...
