Dead DT990 Pro's (250 ohm)
I have a pair of these which I bought quite a few years ago, they were sitting in a storage crate for two and a half years so when they died they'd really only had about a year's use (or thereabouts). The right speaker was rattling a little so I tapped the right headphone unit - this had...- davo-cc

Futuresonics Atrio M5
Excellent, that's precisely what I'm looking for - the DT770's have taught me much about bass because they can do it so excessively, they've helped me really hone what I'm looking for in that regard; I've been on the hunt for decent bass in earphones since the late 80's back with the (then...- davo-cc

Futuresonics Atrio M5
Quote: Yes, absolutely. I'm qualifying that position with their lack of burn-in but out of the box the depth, quality and power of the bass was not being presented from the Ipod Nano. I've been burning the in overnight off a notebook cycling the same track and can tell a difference...- davo-cc

Futuresonics Atrio M5
I just received my MG7 Pro (m5 with m7 driver) today - I'm driving it from an Ipod Nano 4gen with the "rock" equalizer setting. I'm coming from the ever-loved Hippo VB's, I have used my old pair to death and the chord broke apart; I love those things. I wanted to try the Atrio so took a $230...- davo-cc

Jecklin Float Owners Headcount - fuglyphones owners unite
I've just finished re-covering my Float 2's - I purchased a foam kit from Tivoli Hifi in Melbourne (Australia). I purchased the kit last year, I think it was about $35 or so - I could check with them if you like. The foams all seem original, like they're orignal Jeklin parts - it even has...- davo-cc

Monster Turbine Vs Hippo VB
Swanlee have you ever used the Hippo VB's with an Ipod of any sort? I've ordered a pair of the VB's based on the experience I've seen in this forum (I'm replacing UE 5EB's) and am keen on a strong bass profile; I'm playing from a 4th gen Ipod Nano. One of the main concerns I have is about...- davo-cc

Hippo VB experience?
eeeek - I don't want to do that... Perhaps standard playlist repeated over a number of hours would help? Moderate volume?- davo-cc

Hippo VB experience?
ok, I think I understand what you mean - I like a fuller bass exposure personally, I don't think this is incompatible with what these will do though; my overall experience is very limited but I tend to like the profile that my Jeklin JJ Float Model 2's give me even if I did tend to have them up...- davo-cc

Hippo VB experience?
Wow I just read your review - you've put quite a lot of work into that! I'm not yet familiar with how to interpret "tighter" bass though I'm presuming this refers to it being with greater clarity and less muddiness; would this be accurate? Either way your analysis has convinced me to order...- davo-cc

Hippo VB experience?
Thanks DFKT, you're making my decision pretty clear! Which plate were you using - is it true that the one without any dots is the highest bass and the 2/3 ones are less bassy? Have you ever tried Monster Turbines? I've heard they're bassy but I'm seeing mixed reviews on construction and...- davo-cc

Hippo VB experience?
I have just been reading about these Hippo’s for the first time and I'm what would be classified as a "bass-head" myself. I’m looking to replace the UE 5EB’s that I’ve had for many years now. prior to that I had the Sony MDR-EX70lp’s for many years. I found the 5EBs were more bassy and less...- davo-cc
