Gustard A18
I apologize for the late response. I don't come here as often as I used to. The voltage switch on my A18 is set to 110V since I am in USA. In the picture, it is set to 220V. I must have toggled the switch to 220V before taking the photo, then toggled it back to 110V. I hope that answers your...- Dannemand

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android
Sorry for the late response. I don't come here as often as I used to. I had to read up on this discussion from 1.5 years ago. I was answering a post about MQA enabled LG phones and whether a user still needs to purchase UAPP's MQA add-on for such phones. My answer was they DON'T need to...- Dannemand

LG V40 ThinQ
LG Music Player (and most apps on LG Quad DAC phones) do indeed play bit perfect, but only on HiRes tracks (anything 24-bit). 16-bit tracks (including all RedBook 16/44) are played through the Android Mixer which resamples to 48KHz. The exception is MQA 16-bit tracks, which also play bit perfect...- Dannemand

LG V30
@monsieurfromag3 called it two years in this very thread: Well V35 probably was THE one, with its faster processor and 6GB RAM in a V30 package. But rare and hard to find, and limited to 64GB except in Brazil. Much more development for V30, though, as pointed out by others. My wife and I...- Dannemand

Music Apps, Tips and Tricks for the LG V30, V35, V40, V50 & V60
Excellent reviews there. I did not know that about the ROG 5 either! The question is, can you bring it to a business meeting and still be taken seriously? That's the the problem with gaming laptops too, which otherwise might have the best specs. Maybe with a case that covers its most...- Dannemand

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android
Thank you for trying that and reporting back. I couldn't say why it isn't working in your situation. Maybe @Davy Wentzler (the dev) has some suggestion. You can send an email. He is generally very responsive.- Dannemand

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android
If I understand you correctly, you have installed UAPP on the NVidia Shield and selected Start UPnP renderer, but are still not seeing the renderer with mConnect or BubbleUPnP (being on the same network, of course). I have no first-hand experience with NVidia Shield. I've used UAPP on a LG V30...- Dannemand

Sony Xperia 1 Impression Thread
Thank you for the ping. I am not familiar with the Xperia, so I apologize if anything I post here is out of context. My experience is limited to LG V30 and similar phones using their internal QuadDAC (ESS 9218P). On these phones, a special effects flag must be set during playback, which enables...- Dannemand

Tidal Masters & MQA Thread!
I realize the recent discussion was about the iFi, but I thought it relevant to elaborate on Raspberry Pi in the context of this thread. Raspberry Pi is an excellent music source for less than $100. It's basically what is inside many of the high priced streamers from various brands. I use an...- Dannemand

LG V30
I agree that is puzzling, and does sound like it's working. Maybe they're using Digital Volume Control (DVC) rather than the Analog Volume Control (AVC) of the ESS -- which is a key component in its high SQ, avoiding the resolution loss and noise caused by DVC. I have no firsthand experience...- Dannemand

Sounds like it's using the regular Qualcomm DAC. I've studied the ESS driver in various LG models quite extensively, and if you only have 15 steps (instead of the usual 75 steps) my guess is that ROM isn't using the ESS driver. Or not using it correctly.- Dannemand

LG V30
While I rooted one of my V30s, I never used the root much, except for some tests. And unlike with my Nexus 5 before, I never found a need for custom ROMs on V30. I did check out Ainur Sauron, but ended up removing it again. I am not a great believer in "boosting" sound or messing with the audio...- Dannemand

LG V30
@csglinux measured various DAPs and phones on the website linked below, and found V60 to measure rather incredibly, and significantly better than earlier models. Whether you will be able to hear the difference is the question, since the older models already measured very well. V35 in particular...- Dannemand

You have to find a way to accurately level match when comparing HIM to Normal mode (HiFi mode). Even very small volume differences will skew the impression. Subjectively I believe I've heard a difference, with HIM sounding more boomy and less detailed. But measurements and code analysis don't...- Dannemand

You don't play through the Impedance adapter. You only use it to trigger High Impedance Mode. Once the phone is in HIM, you remove the Impedance adapter form the chain, leaving the extension cable in the phone. That way the phone stays in HIM. That said, HIM does NOT cause higher sound quality...- Dannemand
