    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

I also tried all of SBAF mods and the CC driver mod. The SBAF mods mostly lower bass quantity, no matter which mod they don't get rid of the slight 4 - 5khz edge because the metal mesh is still there. It's physics, metal material = metallic quality. Tube amps lessen it because they lower attack...

It certainly is for many. You can get roughly the same sound as tubes on typical solid state by doing the mod, for those wondering.

Removing the silver screen and using micropore tape around the diaphragm perimeter (1 or 2 layers, depending on your preference) and felt tape around everything else in the baffle, makes them smoother, more bassy and more natural sounding. Gone is the slight metallic edge that was caused, by...

Even better when you remove the silver metal mesh and replace it with felt tape :)

I meant regular Spiral Dot tips aka EP-FX9, not the + version because that one and the ++ have a different material then the regular Spiral Dots. You could use other versions of Comply tips, as long as the hole in the tip is atleast as big as the nozzle of the MH750. I found T-500 in reverse to...

Yes I tried other silicon tips on other IEMs, but I always found they add a metallic tinge to the sound compared to foam tips. You're right with the lifespan of Comply tips. If you want to try silicon tips, I found the regular JVC Spiral Dots to sound the most natural (least amount of metallic...

Comply T-500 medium or large, depending on what fits you best. No it's the opposite, it's better in reverse because that way the tip won't cover the IEM nozzle when they're in your ear.

For those that gave up on MH750/755 because they found them too shouty: if you remove the vent sticker in the back of the driver, all the shout is gone.

It can actually be extremely pleasant if you remove the all vent stickers from the back of the driver, then use Comply foam tips in reverse. I've just started listening to them that way, and they're even more pleasant than stock Final E5000 and E3000.

So I bought one today. Mine has the 2 solder dots and off centered driver vent. Interestingly, when I took off the vent damping, there were 2 vents in there.

New Beyerdynamic Pro X line: DT 700 Pro X and DT 900 Pro X

Which one would have more bass impact between DT770 Pro 250ohm and DT700 Pro X, when both have the same pads, foam discs and clamping force?

So I did some mods to these. My pair was pretty neutral on arrival with a distant midrange mild treble peak, certainly no boosted bass but rather linear until the upperbass dip. First I removed the plastic felt ring and the plastic tab on the driver magnet. Both are there just to restrict...

    Stacking magnets?

So I tried a 15mm diameter magnet on my open back CAL, with rear sticker removed, in the attracted position. It made it less sensitive and less smooth, it was even worse in the repelling position. It got me thinking, wouldn't a potmagnet be best for this? It shields the outer layer of the...

    Stacking magnets?

What would the sound difference between a small magnet (like on the pics of Slater) and an identically sized magnet? Both with the same strength and size hole in the middle.
