Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!
Canada Post has been really good this holiday season. I've had stuff delivered on Sunday for the past three weeks. Fingers crossed indeed.- Chris F

Closed backed headphones with large soundstage and flat signature for mixing
For your needs a UERR is ideal though they don't have an extra large soundstage. Also, assuming they sound the same as UERM but with more extension they will also be among the best sounding personal transducers available at any cost. ...- Chris F

Ottawa Regional meet - September 2015 - respond here
I agree, venue is good. Nice space: good facilities, lots of room, plenty of chairs/tables and easy access to power via the floor sockets. Pretty much everything you need.- Chris F

Ottawa Regional meet - September 2015 - respond here
Tried the wifi but gave up on it really fast. I ended up setting my phone up as a hotspot so people could stream whatever they wanted from iTunes on my laptop. I'm pretty sure the iPhone can do multiple clients and I'm cool with sharing (I have a 6GB data plan) as long as people use it for...- Chris F

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
The 4 pin thing is a balanced headphone output. Your LCD-3 came with a balanced cable, check in the case. For your other phones you can use the single ended (1/4" TRS) output or get a balanced cable made. I would suggest eventually getting a balanced cable for your favourites; due to the amp...- Chris F

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
Haven't used it as a speaker amp yet. The Event Opals are active studio monitors (amplification is built into the speaker) so the Rok behaves as a very expensive analog volume control (aka: pre-amp ;)) while the speakers are playing. For fun I've been thinking of dragging it into the living...- Chris F

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
I think it's because with speakers you finally get to hear just how good the Ygg is at imaging/soundstage as well as timbre/tonality. I love using it with my Event Opals (via Ragnarok).- Chris F

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
You'll be fine unless you get lengthy black/brownouts on a consistent basis. Takes ~45-60 minutes off time for Yggy to revert to square one and then depending on lifetime "on hours" it takes anywhere from a couple hours to a couple days to get back to optimal. From experience (back and...- Chris F

Audio GD Master-11(Combination from Master 7 and Master 9)
Should have mentioned it but I already did that with replaygain in foobar which gave: Master 11 +1.72dB Rag/Ygg +3.46dB Orpheus +0.27dB Rag/Ygg was the quietest of the three.- Chris F

Audio GD Master-11(Combination from Master 7 and Master 9)
Downloaded the samples and did a quick listen at work from my laptop with RE-600 IEM. I am biased since I own Rag/Ygg (+LCD-3F) however I find the Master 11 waaaay too dark and with an artificial midbass exaggeration to boot. Tone/timbre on Rag/Ygg is also better. The Orpheus has a...- Chris F

Schiit Ragnarok Amplifier
Yes there are plenty of inexpensive USB options outside of the external drive offered by Apple. Here is the one I use with my MBP: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135256 I haven't tried DVD burning but on my mid 2014 MBP it does CD read/write and DVD read with...- Chris F

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
Volume knob position is material dependent. Stuff that has never seen a compressor tends to be higher, modern loudness war masters will be lower. Usually I'm listening to the former. Hearing is still good to 17K and change.- Chris F

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
I use the middle setting with the volume dial typically around 2PM. Lowest gain I find the transients a bit mushy, while on the highest they are too agressive. Balanced input from Yggdrasil and balanced output as the balanced HP out on Ragnarok is superior to the SE.- Chris F
