    THE most expensive headphone..ever!

at a Headroom roadshow. It was like another level of consciousness. It was like when the monolith comes down in the beginning of 2001 and all of a sudden the apes know how to use tools. Seriously it felt like being on a drug.

    Headphones for Office Use

I went from the Grado 60's to the Sennheisher 280pros for this very reason. Actually I used to have annoying podmate who babble to another coworker for hours. I found I absolutely needed to shut him out so I got isolating headphones. I also found with the Grados that if I wasn't careful it...

    burnign in headphones

My Sennheiser 280pros definitely benefitted from burn in. Right out of the box the highs were actually distorting. Specifically Louis Armstrong's voice, it was quite apparent. It happened in the same spot in song every time. I burned mine in for about 100 hours and the effect was...

How Do i Burn in Headphones?

For whatever reason Sennheiser hd 280 pros require a lot of burn-in, like 100 hours worth. When I first got them the bass was ok and some highs, like vocals (specifically Louis Armstrong) would actually distort. By 40 hours the bass was deeper and the highs less harsh. By 100 hours the...

Looking for something like the old HD414/HD424

Well, I think my hat size is an 8 and I don't have any problem whatsoever with the Grado SR60's. These have the full size pads. I have them on right now and they feel great. The band is pretty thin metal. I just bent it a little bit towards flat and voila! my big head feels fine in the Grado...

    Sennheiser PX100-PX200

I wish I had got the chance to hear these before Christmas. I gave two pairs of Grado SR40 's as gifts this year. I like the looks of these better, and the folding has a James-Bondian quality that folks who still listen to their stock headphones would appreciate.

Impressions: Sony MDR-V6 Vs. Sennheiser HD-280 Pro

wallijonn, I just noted your comment about burn in and pad compression. I don't think that was the case with me. Of my 100 hour burn in period, I think I only listened to cans for about two hours. I would listen, take my impressions and then take the cans off.

Impressions: Sony MDR-V6 Vs. Sennheiser HD-280 Pro

Hi, Did you burn in both phones? I found that my 280 pros took a while to burn in. The highs were still a bit harsh after 40 hours, but they definitely smoothed out closer to 100 hours. I noticed it on a Louis Armstrong vocal track, where earlier his voice was harsh and distorting, but...

    Just got my Sennheiser HD-280s

People say that the HD280's take extra long to burn in. I think this tends to be true. When I first got them I listened to some Louis Armstrong and high horn notes would distort. Very grating sound. After about 3 days, I noticed these notes were smoothed out and were not distorting. After about...

New York Area Meeting Anyone Thinking About It?

I would love to check this out. I have lurked here for a while and registered becuase of this. I grew up not very far from Grado Labs. I think it's pretty cool that Brooklyn has a world-class audio shop. By the way, if you're looking for a place to eat afterwards, Ocean Palace is a fantastic...
