Finally found a solution to refit my custom fitted monitors
Quote: Well, I'd consider $500 to be more than a few, and I never put anything very far inside of my ear, so I don't see the risk. I tested it on my skin ahead of time, and there was no reaction. If I needed to make full depth molds of my ear canals than I wouldn't have done it this way.- Bonsai Monkey

Finally found a solution to refit my custom fitted monitors
I don't remember what type of silicone, I got it at Lowes, and it was in a small tube. I believe it was aquarium safe, or something like that. I made sure there wasn't anything weird in the ingredients. The vaseline didn't seem to do anything, I don't even know that it was needed, I just...- Bonsai Monkey

Finally found a solution to refit my custom fitted monitors
Quote: I saw those a while back, but they seemed to be more trouble than I wanted to deal with. I use the comply tips for my shure headphones, and they work great, but I greatly preferred the custom mold of my iem's when they were fitting better. The beauty of what I've got going now is...- Bonsai Monkey

Finally found a solution to refit my custom fitted monitors
Quote: Well, I figured that they were useless unless I did something, and I wasn't willing to spend the hundreds of dollars it would take to pay to have it done. This cost me all of about $3 in materials and a few hours of time. The best part is that it's reversible, if for some reason...- Bonsai Monkey

How to make a fixed attenuator for headphones
My ES2's are much too sensitive when using plugged into my ipod, the background noise is very noticeable, and I have to keep the ipod turned almost all the way down or it is way too loud. I'd like to have an inline attenuator so that the background noise is reduced, and I can turn the volume up...- Bonsai Monkey

Finally found a solution to refit my custom fitted monitors
Many years ago I purchased some Westone ES2's, as well as some custom fitted earplugs. The fit on both was never fantastic (turns out I should have had my mouth wide open while doing the fitting, the audiologist disagreed, I didn't know better at the time), but I lived with it. Over time the...- Bonsai Monkey

Anyone Making DIY earplugs/earpieces?
I am thinking (after losing my second pair of musicians earplugs) that rather than going and having another set made, I might make a mold of my ear canal, make a negative of that, and use that negative to make my own earplugs. I know that I can get a kit to make the mold, and from my days...- Bonsai Monkey

DIY Modifying custom molded IEM's / Earplugs
I have a set of Westone ES2's that have lost their seal. I don't know if they have shrunk or if my ear canals have grown, but they don't seal anymore unless I hold them in my ears. They fit nicely, just feel like they are too small. The original fit always felt a little small, but they used to...- Bonsai Monkey

UM2 vs. ES2 Are they the same?
From my conversation with Westone, the 2 are the same, but the ES2 has a seperate sound tube for each driver, giving a clearer sound. I am going to be getting my ES2's back tomorrow with some modifications to both the fit and sound, and I will let you all know how they sound once I have a chance...- Bonsai Monkey

Westone ES2's and a few questions
Well, the ES2's are being driven from an iriver ihp40, which is an older model. When I was using the ER4P's I would hear a little hiss, but not nearly as much. They also had to be turned up more to get the same volume. I have ordered a 75 ohm adaptor from the site listed above and I will see...- Bonsai Monkey

Westone ES2's and a few questions
Hello everyone, I was using ER-4P's for a while, and while they sounded nice, I could never get the bass sound that I wanted (Even with the bass boost on my mp3 player almost all of the way up the bass was still not very loud). I purchased a pair of Westone ES2's and they arrived last week...- Bonsai Monkey

Isolating canal phones for grass cutting, <$90?
Saying the headphones will reproduce 8-27,000Hz doesn't really mean anything unless there is a qualifier. What it should say is 8-27,000 Hz +/- 3 dB. Without the +/- range the frequency responce is meaningless. who cares if it reproduces 8Hz or 25,000Hz if those frequency's are at -30dB...- Bonsai Monkey

My tiny ear and canalphones
I don't know if the comply tips will fir on an ER-6i, but I am using the comply tips for my ER-4P and they work great. I have a small ear canal, and actually went to get custom molds because the tips that came with the ER-4 hurt so much. My audiologist gave me some of the comply tips, and they...- Bonsai Monkey
