AudioTechnica ATH AD-700 dilemma
Had my AD700s for what feels like 10 years. Love em. Drive them with a Xonar U7 external card. Here's the issue: My pads are worn out. They don't make the AD700s anymore, now they make the AD700x. The 700x are nowhere near as comfortable as the 700s. They feel like cheap plastic. The...- BlackLabel

Asus Xonar U7 vs FiiO E10k
Thanks for the reply! I went ahead and also ordered the U7. After I compare I'll send the other one back. I have a feeling you're on the right track and the U7 is going to be better.- BlackLabel

Asus Xonar U7 vs FiiO E10k
I'm currently using onboard ALC892 on a MSI Z87-G55 motherboard and even though this onboard is a lot better than what onboard was years ago, I want something better. My headphones are the Audiotechnica ATH-AD700 (love these things). The sound stage is very wide and so I feel like I get a...- BlackLabel

Headphone/ Soundcard for Gaming

Linux for sound?
Yeah, I watch Blu-ray on the PS3 (one of the only things I use it for besides playing Divx videos from a thumb drive). I guess I'll try the Live CD route and see. I did read that the performance of a Live CD is significantly less than with a real install, but then again, I'm just testing...- BlackLabel

Headphones & Mic Combo
I pulled the trigger and bought the AD700s for $88 shipped. Should be here next week. Went and got a zalman mic too. Sorry to ask this again, but didn't want this point to be lost. The "light bass" comments would not apply if I'm comfortable with the bass on my PC350s? I've been reading...- BlackLabel

Linux for sound?
Well, I had been dual booting with Windows 7 for some time, and the ability to do a lot of things at once seemed easier in Linux. I have noticed that Windows has come a long way, but Linux is still really attractive to me. What are your thoughts on Linux for desktop or laptop use?- BlackLabel

Headphones & Mic Combo
But in your opinion, if I'm used to the PC350s and the bass on those, then I probably won't be complaining about the bass on the AD700s? I heard that open headphones have sound advantages when you're not worried about sound leaking out or outside sound coming in. I live alone, so it's not an...- BlackLabel

Headphones & Mic Combo
What do you think about the claims about lack of bass with the AD700s? I like to listen to dance music a lot. The kind you hear on XM81 and there's a lot of bass in some of those tracks. I'm not a basshead or anything that cranks it up, but like a solid and full low end. That's the only thing...- BlackLabel

Headphones & Mic Combo
I am looking into going for a headphone/mic combo to compare to my PC350s. I like the PC350s, but my curiosity is killing me about some other options. Basically, I have it narrowed down to the AT AD700 and the Senn HD555. I heard the HD595s need a decent amp to drive them, but not sure if the...- BlackLabel

Linux for sound?
Hey guys. I know that it's difficult to find drivers for Linux for some sound cards. I have an X-Fi Prelude and was wondering if I went to Linux on my main desktop computer that I listen to music on, will I be able to find adequate drivers to listen to music and get good quality? It'll be the...- BlackLabel

Gaming with X-FI & Headphones.. what settings?
Can't agree with that. I hear no distortion. Just a different method of presenting the sound. Stereo 2.0/2.1 sounds like the sound is right in front of you and facing you. The headphone setting sounds more like how I want it to sound where I'm immersed in the music. But again, those are my...- BlackLabel
