I'm looking at getting a headphone (preferably open backed) in the sub-1000 price range and so far the Elear and Aeon Flow are looking the most appealing to me. I have had the chance to hear the Elear, but not the Aeon so I was wondering if there's anyone here who has heard both who can say...

Yeah, unfortunately it needs to be relatively portable and I'd rather not carry an amp around with me.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm adding them to my list of options which is growing rather large haha. I am willing to strech my budget a bit but I'm wary of getting pushed further and further up in price. I would probably pay for the Shures if the sound is worth it. Choosing expensive headphones...

The CD player is the Denon RCD-M37DAB. It's relatively old now but it was a great CD player at the time and still is. I don't have any headphone amps at the moment and wouldn't know which one to get if I was to get one. I compared listening to both the headphone from my phone and from the CD...

The h6 doesn't fold. Do you mean you can lay it with the ear cups flat?
