    Tecsun Caogen headphone impression

The bigger and badder brother of Caogen is in da house! Just received the Tecsun HP-300 a few days back, and had it run-in a little with some burn-in tracks. This is the 300 ohms version of Caogen and twice the price, meant for recording studios. Got it for CNY 1200 (about USD170) before...

Raidho XT-1 - New Version of the Award Winning X-1

Unfortunately, it isn't the XT1 for this tempting offer, it's the X1. Speaking of which, have you compared the X1 to XT1 before? I thought the X1 (and the XT1) needed lots of space on the side and back. How close can you get to the front and side wall (basically the front 2...

Raidho XT-1 - New Version of the Award Winning X-1

Thanks guys for answering my question. Podeschi, was it you that posted the review on Audience V3 upgrade in AudioShark? I am planning to send my Ones V2+ for V3 upgrade, and at the same time an used Raidho X-1 (not XT) came up for sale at an affordable price. What do you guys think? Should I...

Raidho XT-1 - New Version of the Award Winning X-1

@podeschi I have the smaller Audience One, and love it to bits. So I'm familiar with the Audience sound. The Raidho is something I hope to listen to and purchase in the future. Do you mind sharing a little bit on the difference/similarities between your 1+1 vs XT1? Sound stage, resolution...

    Topping D50

Just bought a DAC DAC HS recently for a good price. It's SPDIF input only, so I got a really old m2tech Hiface to go with it. DAC DAC HS is about 2dB louder at line out. After matching volume, the only difference I heard between D50 vs DAC DAC HS is the lack of hum on my speakers for DAC DAC...

I'm not very well versed in electronics, but after much digging... i know that DAC chips like Burr Brown PCM1794 and ESS Sabre outputs current signals. So it has to be converted to voltage signals. The first stage "filter" is an I/V stage, which converts current signal to voltage signal. The...

MQA is not lossless, it uses some algorithm to cut off some bits, and uses those bits as storage space to store information related to "hi res" data (data above 44.1kHz). FLAC and WAV are lossless. I think MQA is useful only if you are streaming while on the road because it saves some cellular...

You're right. The D50 will work without USB ground connected, but it poses a risk.

I see what you mean. I also taped the metal "box" of the usb plugs that connect to the USB cable shield. So totally no ground connection between DAC to PC. USB handshake is a USB protocol used by some USB devices, and requires 5V and ground. If we cut off 5V, no handshake can happen. Handshake...

Oh, you're in UK. You should check out iFi iPower (5V). A really clean switching power. Someone at Computer Audiophile forum did a test between iPower vs Chinese linear power supplies. The iPower's noise level beat all LPS in the test...

A few of us here are a bit sensitive to the "D/S glare", most people don't hear it and aren't bothered by it. It really isn't a big problem for me, but when another person notices it, I'm curious to find out if this "glare" exist for me too (it's inconclusive at this point). And a few of us...

I've tried taping both +5V and ground on my Type-A plug --> it still works. Cutting off ground does not affect its operation. Awesome stuff! I saw 4 clocks on the board: 3 near the XMOS, 1 for the DAC. In the LKS MH-DA003 thread, guys there changed the clocks to Pulsar clocks (crazy expensive...

    L.K.S. Audio MH-DA004 Dual ES9038PRO DAC - Van Damme's double impact?

Cut a piece of tape to cover contact points 1 & 4. No need to buy a new accessory, or DIY a new cable yet. It's simple and fast, and you could try it immediately... unless you don't have tape. In which case, go buy it from a store. Wow! You've got good ears. I've never bothered to compare the...

One of the regulated power should be for the display and controller chip/circuit, which i suspect the left chip is the Vreg for the the display/controller chip (right chip). 9uV noise is really good already. I agree that it's not worth necessary to upgrade to LT3045.
