PHILIPS SHE3580 -How to up-grade your Philips SHE3580/90. Note: Once up-graded, they're hard to beat!
The BIG problem with these earphones is the cable. Its really quite terrible (even at this VERY low price point). The cable is extremely thin, very noisy, way to much memory (springy and awkward in use), and feels terrible to the touch / against your skin. Philips also do not provide enough...- 78finn

Whirlwind Silicon Eartips
Have seen these replacement ear tips floating around the web a fair bit. They are called: Whirlwind Silicon Ear Tips They come in three different sizes and claim to increase bass performance by around 5%. Is anyone using them / tried them out? If so, I'd be interested in hearing what...- 78finn

Help with IEM - Detachable Cables, Big Bass, NOT over the ear cables - Must be able to be warn straight down.
They look great! One question... Is it easy to replace the cable with third party products i.e. is the connector type fairly "standard"?- 78finn

Help with IEM - Detachable Cables, Big Bass, NOT over the ear cables - Must be able to be warn straight down.
I'm after some recommendations for a new pair of IEM's. I have a budget of $400 (max). My criteria: 1. Must have detachable cables. 2. I mostly listen to EDM and electronic music, so bass is a must. 3. I do not like 'over the ear' cables, I find them irritating. So the IEM's must...- 78finn

I don't really agree that the Etymotic ER-4S is "better". I'm not really sure they have the same target audience. The Etymotic ER-4S is somewhat inefficient and power-hungry at a stiff 100 Ohm impedance, so you really are going to need a headphone amp if you plan on pairing these with an iPhone...- 78finn

Build Quality Main housing: Nicely machined, very small, very light weight, all aluminium housing. Earbuds: Not great, feel cheap, made from very thin silicon and arrived warped. 4 x sizes of silicon earbuds. Not reinventing the wheel, but offer good isolation. The earbuds are very...- 78finn

Well I guess I'm not sure what point you are making? The MMCX connectors Fostex employ are different to the ones used on Shure headphones...that much is certain. But the connectors used by Fostex are not 'non-standard', they are just different to the ones that Shure use. There are 7 different...- 78finn

Not ALL cables will work with the TE-07 & TE-05, but I have found many 'standard' third party MMCX cables that will. Not all MMCX connectors are identical for obvious reasons...mostly so that a brand can sell you an after market cable. But if you dig a little deeper, you will find plenty of...- 78finn

Topping TP NX2 (Amplifier DAC)
Has anyone bought or managed to demo the new Topping NX2 (2015)? It has recently been released and replaces the very popular NX1. Its currently being sold on eBay for AUS $70. Here is the link: http://r.ebay.com/a9K1Nn I am also considering the SMSL M2 protable DAC/AMP. What do...- 78finn

REVIEW: Head-direct.com HiFiMan EF2 tube Hybrid Amp with USB DAC
Hey Reticuli2 you should just go and listen to one. Its under $200 and sounds fantastic... The only thing I would suggest is swapping out the stock tubes it comes with, as they are a bit sharp..emphasis on the highs. I suspect they have used these tubes because, well they are cheap, but it also...- 78finn

REVIEW: Head-direct.com HiFiMan EF2 tube Hybrid Amp with USB DAC
ok so after a bit of research, the only difference between the EF2 and EF2A is a slight better out put on the EF2A. I have managed to get the EF2 working on Win 7 x64. After a bit of digging around I found out that both versions of the AMP have the same make/model of DAC...so they...- 78finn
