where did you see the hp910's for $45? Most places i have seen them are over 100.00 I think there is an hs910 which are different from the hp910's

Try one of those sticky lint rollers. They work quite well on cloth pads and even speaker grill cloths (just dont press down on the tweeter dome).

One tip that I read on the welborne labs site: something like this: Once you build your stepped attenuator you can purchase a few of the super high quality (read: expensive Vishay, Caddock,Rodestien resistors) and use those in only two or three locations...the steps you listen to the most.

I use my Grado's in bed all the time but just up to the point at which I know I wont wake up if I doze off. One neat thing about the Grado's (or any can with round earpads) is that as I lay on my back I put the headband on my forehead. Not bad at all.

You are correct, I was just in "headphone" mode.

Tying the grounds together isnt going to hurt a thing. Look at a headphone plug, 3 contacts, the grounds ultimately get tied together (at least on the output side). Good, cheap wire you ask.....Teflon cat5 network cable. Steal some or get your I/T friends to bring you some from work...
