The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)
Awesome write up Nameless, no doubt I was one of the people you had to repeat yourself too. Not sure if I talked to you about this other day, but I was really disappointed with my purchase of AD700's. I was disappointed because I sold my G35's expecting the AD700's to be much more accurate...- 443330

Questions regarding AD700's G35's
I understand your point, but I have been using the AD700's for over a month now. Yes, it did improve slightly, but it is still not nearly comparable to the G35's. Personally, I think when I get a sound card things will change. I just want to know if the G35's on board sound still processes...- 443330

Questions regarding AD700's G35's
Quote: Maybe if you read my original post you would understand I wasn't calling the AD700's sound horrible but the G35's. My only issue with the AD700's is they don't perform as well as the G35's with the same setup/settings.- 443330

Questions regarding AD700's G35's
Hey Nameless, From what I have read COD4 does not use DirectSound3D it only uses DirectSound. The whole reason why I created this thread was because I too was baffled why without drivers installed, and surround sound off the G35's were much much more accurate in game and I could pinpoint...- 443330

Questions regarding AD700's G35's
I read the thread you linked me too. Not sure why you posted it though as it doesn't answer any of my questions and I already said the sound quality is horrible.- 443330

Questions regarding AD700's G35's
Hi guys, I have some questions regarding Logitech G35's, I use to own a pair before I sold it and replaced it with a pair of AD700's. I used Realtek ALC883? on board sound. Now I only used the G35's for playing COD4 promod. I never installed any of the drivers, I just plugged the...- 443330

AD700 + Soundcard? COD4 Gaming
Well, I guess I have to get a sound card because these AD700's I got are worse than my G35's with onboard sound.- 443330

AD700 + Soundcard? COD4 Gaming
When I had the G35's I tried many different configurations until I was happy, I can't exactly remember if I had it on stereo headset or 5.1 though. How exactly does the windows settings influence the sound?- 443330

AD700 + Soundcard? COD4 Gaming
Ah ok, you don't think COD4 on pc could have made the Dolby Headphone sound muddled?- 443330

AD700 + Soundcard? COD4 Gaming
That's weird because when I used the surround sound option on the Logitech G35's my ingame sound was completely screwed, I mean it was horrible. With it off I could to a certain extent pin point enemies. Either my settings were wrong with the G35 surround sound on or you are playing a different...- 443330

AD700 + Soundcard? COD4 Gaming
Ok, fair enough. I have another question. I have used Logitech G35's before but found they sounded like muddled when the surround sound option in the drivers was turned on, I also found the sound was clearer if in game I use stereo as my setting. Now to my understanding G35's have dolby...- 443330

AD700 + Soundcard? COD4 Gaming
So Danthrax, if nameless is saying get the Xonar DG because of Dolby headphone, and you are saying the DG will sound better than on-board with dolby headphone off, does this mean that the Asus Xonar D1 or a better sound card would give better in game sound? I am having a hard time finding...- 443330

AD700 + Soundcard? COD4 Gaming
Ah ok, looks like I'll be getting an Asus Xonar DG although I would have preferred a Xonar D1 but it costs more. Nameless, are you sure that Dolby headphone will actually help? I keep hearing that it sometimes muddles the sound. I want the best possible clarity/direction/accuracy :P- 443330

AD700 + Soundcard? COD4 Gaming
COD4 audio settings only contain a volume slider, kHZ settings (44 kHZ) being the max, sound EQ filter (on/off) and then Speaker config ranging from Windows Default, Mono, Stereo, 4 Speakers, 5.1 Speakers. So, that seems to be all you can change.- 443330
