The combination of RCA 6GU7 cleartops with the 421A is very listenable in the WA3. Liquid smooth jazz....can hear all the keys on Joe Henderson's sax. :)

GEC 6AS7G and 1959 Novosibirsk 6n5p triple mica...smooth, but a bit dark.

Psvanes el84 + Lorenz 12au7 - love this combination on Consonance amp driving my AKG k340.
Very musical in the midrange, yet crisp at both ends of spectrum.
Perfect combination for strings, chamber music and vocals.

^ 12AU7 is a great tube….of course it also depends on the amp design too.

With one of my amps I use a 12AT7 which is kind of similar to a 12AU7.

For me, once I find the tube value I like after experimenting, I stick to it and will not change tubes
