I'm much more of an earphone guy, but my current set of cans are Audio Technica ATH m40x when I want to listen to music with full sized, Sennheiser HD 598 for gaming, and every other time my shure se215 earphones. Entry level stuff I know, but it's gotta be on that college budget.

Right now it's the bass modded Q701 with the Bravo V2 (Basically the Ocean without an enclosure) and a new stock Electro Harmonix tube. Perfect combination really and I didn't like this amp much with the Q701 until I got that tube! Cost me under $20.

Now i'm addicted to this headphone again and got it back in 2013 I think.
I really need to find more tubes that make it even better with the Q701.

PS the DAC I'm using is the Headroom Micro DAC (CS4398). It's pretty transparent overall. Really love Headroom gear!

I read somewhere, and this may not be the most reliable thing ever, that the Cirrus/Crystal 439x DACs are spiritual/technical successors to the Philips/NXP TDA154x series (of course with some intermediaries). I have a DAC based on an older 20-bit member of this family (from Crystal) and it absolutely stands up in terms of transparency and cleanliness today (at least, imho) - really solid performers. :)

Currently:

TEAC UD-H01 -> AT-HA5000 -> ATH-W5000 :atsmile:
