iFi Audio iGalvanic3.0 - The Holy Grail of Audio

If this true, why did not every USB 2.0 device break when USB 3.0 was implemented in MANY computers? I never had a problem with any USB 2.0 device.....

I was speaking about my AK Jr. dap whose DAC feature hardly works. AK even specified the DAC wouldn't work via USB 3.0 ports and should only be plugged into 2.0 ports. But they never specified why and I had no clue until iFi's post above.

Several of us in the Jr. thread went so far as to disable USB features in the BIOS (EHCI, XHCI, and even USB 3.0) attempting to get the DAC feature to work. Even after all that, it still barely worked on those machines yet it worked fine on multiple 2.0 only computers (with absolutely no USB 3.0 hardware).

Was it USB Audio only that was a problem? USB 2.0 printers worked fine with USB 3.0. So did USB 2.0 keyboards, mice, thumb drives, etc.....

Seems so from what iFi posted:
".....every product using XMOS Audio ended up not working."

When I see XMOS the first thing that comes to my mind is DSD. Sure enough, the one or two DACs (including the Jr.'s) I've had issues with were DSD capable.

Haven't had any issues with non-audio devices nor PCM only DACs.

All this might explain why Microsoft is only now adding Class 2 audio support with the Windows 10 Creator's Update. Have to assume they were aware of the issue and didn't want to invest resources in both a workaround fix plus new drivers. However, according to users in the Windows audio thread, their drivers are still sketchy.

IF iFi have successfully resolved this issue PLUS adding galvanic isolation (along with the other existing features built-in), I'm now more anxious to get my hands on the iGalavanic3.0. Tempted to try the ISO REGEN which is already available but I'd prefer the iGalvanic3.0's 3-way ground switch, lack of wall wart power (more streamlined with just one cable in and out), and USB 3.0 future-proofing.

Perhaps because 'MANY' does not mean 'ALL'?

I've been checking availability and getting impatient as well. Can't help thinking how much better my DAC might sound after the upgrade.

Price will be a bit high but the iUSBs weren't cheap either and the iGalvanic3.0 should be another step up plus more futureproof.

When did iFi give a $299 price? 349 Euros is about $390. Perhaps it will be cheaper in U S.
In early May, iFi gave an early June release.
On May 28th iFi said the release date was not available.
Lately, iFi has said nothing.
Let's hope the release comes soon............at $299

To be shown with Sennheiser Orpheus HE-1 is a reason for us to be proud, hence we'll just leave the proof here...

My patience is getting thinner and thinner. I've started looking into the ISO Regen.

You should! The ISO Regen is fantastic!!

We are aware that it takes a bit longer than expected. Still, we strongly believe that iGalvanic3.0 is worth the wait. Only one thing to tweak is what's left. Stay strong:L3000:
