Has anyone heard when this new DAC is due to be released, or any word on features/functionality? I'm thinking of purchasing the Emotiva XDA-2, but could be persuaded to wait for the pro DAC if there is a huge difference in sound quality and features.

Anyone ordered it? I saw it at a local show and really liked the way it looked. It was hooked up to a pair of Stealth 6 speakers. That setup sounded really good. The specs seem quite nice and the price is reasonable at $899. I'm really looking forward to reviews....

I'm kinda intrigued by the whole stealth dac & 8 combo. Maybe it's just the looks though.

Interesting. I have their Mini-x-a-100, great performance to cost ratio. Would be interesting in seeing the performance of this DAC.

they lowered price to $699 which I think is great! I may order it next month to compare to my dacmini.

Do it. Take one for the team.

Funny thing about the price, in all the Emotiva videos before the price was set at $699. I don't know why the website had it priced at $899 before?

They have the user manual up, although the link from the Pro site is wrong, the link from their consumer site does work:

Some interesting bits from the manual concerning the headphone jacks:

A 2dB boost @ 20Hz is quite literally nothing  unless you have a habit of listening to whale mating calls or something.

Looking forward to reading some reviews. I see it also has a headphone amp built in, wonder how good it performs as an "all-round" package.

Well.......it's not a habit but I do feel the need to hear the cry of a baby calf to it's mother from a primal sense of need. Hawaiian spirit and all that.

I disagree. A slight boost at 20Hz with EQ usually offsets the low end roll-off that so many dynamic cans have and it would probably have a slight effect up to 30 or 40 Hz or so. Granted, there are a lot of genres that don't have any information that low but there are others where it does make a difference IME. There's an atmosphere created by those very low frequencies, similar to the extra atmosphere you get from good high-end extension, that when its missing I notice it and it bugs me. I was just about to ask about this 20 Hz boost feature because I think it sounds like a great idea. I just wish they would have used full size jacks for the headphone outs. This DAC looks promising though. What is the word on the street in regards to the AD1955 DAC chip?
